I want to build a new PC, I should have preordered but I've been trying to build a new PC for the last month + but until I can get one of the new cards I'm not bothering. I also absolutely refuse to buy one off the secondary market based on principle.

I'm giving my son my current PC which actually isn't that bad, i7 10700, 1660 super ect but until I get a new one he ain't getting shit.

PM'd you about the 3070 card.

what's a good budget mobo microatx and CPU combo to handle video streaming, likely to use OBS or Streamlabs with one or two cameras (they're doing something like a talk show)
8gb ram good enough?

Not sure about graphic card for streaming.
Integrated or standalone GPU?, do I even need a capture card?
Should 1080p webcams be ok? Or should I get them 4k ones?

I have a 4x4 audio interface and mics from my djgears, so I can guest DJ their show as well lmfao.
I know it's alot of questions but you guys are the most knowledgeable. I've googled budget streaming setups but they're idiotic (or maybe I am) and no help.
Anyways any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Used cheap parts you guys are offloading will be a bonus hahaha

Twitch only does 1080p max so forget 4k cams. You want 16 gigs of ram. it's cheap you can get it on sale for under $100. Are they planning to game on it? What's your budget?

twitchyzero 12-17-2020 12:12 PM

looks like nvidia may announce more GPUs for CES (typically where they showcase mobile variants but maybe they’re feeling the competition in the desktop space)

They'll prolly do some roblox gaming or even Minecraft on it. They have their playstation and Xbox they do the main gaming on.
I'll start looking at 1080p cams.
I'm pretty flexible on the budget but if I can get away with 5-6 hundred (even less lol) which should be enough for cpu/mobo/ram (maybe GPU). Used or new doesn't matter to me. I'm recycling a case with a 450w PSU.

Thx Manic.

A good multi-core CPU would be key. Try to find a used Intel 6th gen and up, i7 preferably. 16GB RAM minimum, 32GB better.

nVidia videocard with NVENC (RTX 2000 series and up) will be great to do a lot of the encoding so you don't need a capture card (assuming not doing console games) and off-load a lot of the work off the CPU. You can game, stream and encode at the same time in a single box thanks to NVENC on the card.

Looking at 1TB nvme drives. Usage is mostly storage of RAWs and exported JPEGs. Eventually may take over OS and photo editing programs, but that won't be for a while (I don't reformat often, and current OS on MX500 seems to be fine)

Is there a huge difference between upper-tier drives Gen3 drives like the 970 Evo Plus/SN750 to the SN550? How about budget "top tier" like XPG 8200 Pro, Sabrent Rocket or Silicon Power equivalent? I've read a number of reviews and it's clear the Samsung is the best, but at the expense of the Samsung Tax varying $20-$50 depending on alternative drives

I know I probably won't be able to tell the difference between a 550 and the rest since the most I'd import from a session is maybe 20GB, but I generally like to future-proof as much as I can. I don't have access to Gen4 so it's out of the question.

I'm fine paying the $200 sale price for the Samsung, but am likely waiting for the SN750 for $150 as my "buy-now" price. Would a 550 at 120 be that much of a better buy? Budget top-tier for $150-$160?

twitchyzero 12-18-2020 08:36 AM

samsung cells are known to outlast others so i'll gladly pay a bit more for their sticks
for less intensive/sensitive data any nvme will do

Budget top-tier would be the SN550. Most tests have shown it to be just as fast when not doing continuous writes, and honestly, none of us will see the TBW rating of most of these drives. I myself went with the SN550 - have 3 of them in different systems and they're doing great. Only thing I wouldn't use them for is maybe laptop since they have a higher idle power draw.

In day-to-day use I doubt that any of us can pinpoint the difference between a 970 EVO or SN750 vs a SN550 or XPG drive.

I would look for a used computer like this: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...code=undefined

Offer the guy $400-$450 and then buy a bigger SSD.

Mr.Money 12-18-2020 08:40 PM

3070 pop-up often, keep an eye on newegg canada twitter for stock alerts.. they'll let you know what time it drops at

its the 3080 you're gonna be fighting for,its super hard to find one.

this reddit page also has stock alerts for shit too

i'm on the hunt for amd 5600x or 5800x right now.

smoothie. 12-18-2020 08:53 PM

my amazon 3080 will arrive one day.. been waiting since ordered 5 days before release..

I'll have a Zotac 3070 which I got new and will sell once 3080 arrives. Paid about 750 incl taxes, and that's what I'll let it go for if anyone on here is interested.

Twin Fan, compact size, and it pulls similar OC to the rest of the other cards which was a bit surprising.

Anyone know why I have a "cloned" OS drive and how to get rid of it?

https://i.imgur.com/N6UKemi.jpg

I have no idea how or when it was created and despite having the same free space available, inside the actual "X:" drive, there was only about 50mb of AutoCAD files in there.

My actual AutoCAD files are located in my D: anyhow, not in the C:.

So I deleted the files in the X: and it didn't seem to affect the original files in the D:
I wonder if AutoCAD created them for cache purpose or something. I've never seen it do something like this and I can't seem to disable or remove this X:
It doesn't show up in disk management.

What's funny is the 3080ti is 2 months away and yet the 3080 is still so hard to find

AMD is fucked if they can't catch up in RT performance or at least have good resolution upsampling like dlss.

Vansterdam 12-20-2020 12:57 AM

if 3080 TI popping up wonder if there will be a 3090 TI :jizz:

I def wanna 4K game in my next build but wanna stay high FPS for competitive shooters lol

it's already impressive they're 50%+ over last gen given their disappointing rasterization for most of the decade and that they're finally competitive

they'll be fine for RT on console ports since those also use AMD graphics

games built more around PC will likely still be better on GeForce

i dont think AMD will ever match Nvidia's AI

Razor Ramon HG 12-20-2020 08:28 PM

Majority of people still don't care enough about raytracing even if they have an RTX compatible card.

Raytracing is the future, but it isn't the now.

The performance hit is way too strong for lighting effects here and there because there just isn't enough raytracing cores.

AMD is fine for now. They just need to keep focusing on rasterization and perf per watt. They're already beating Ampere in PPW. Raytracing will come when GPU chiplets exist.

SkinnyPupp 12-20-2020 08:52 PM

Considering how many units Nvidia is moving, I'd say people care quite a bit about what they're offering.

I do agree that RT needs to be toned down a bit to meet the capabilities of even RTX cards. You shouldn't have to play at a lower res to enjoy lighting effects.

holy fuck, its a game changer.... just tried a game of cs go and my brain had to reset going from 144hz to 360hz....everything slowed down even more...you know you have that instant jerk reaction time to click on someones head soon as they show up....while it seems like there staring at you longer and this gives you a ton of time to shoot first, if you're an AWP god prepare for people to look slow as hell and its easy clicking if you don't panic. :lawl:

i never blast anyones elbows cause its too much a quick blink on corners but this really allows you to damage them and push ahead with pistol or even watch them run out and get get the kill ...its super strange with a faster monitor.

tried the UFO fps hz test at 360hz,stupid clear how fast its moving.

Hondaracer 12-21-2020 02:00 PM

How much?

I’m in the market for another monitor now as we bought a 26” shitty Acer monitor as my wife’s second monitor for working from home and the resolution is such shit that she can’t do the fine detail work she does on her surface pro...

Gonna look at any Dell Ultrashrap deals coming Boxing Day as my old 24” is still nicer than the brand new POS acer..

Mr.Money 12-21-2020 02:21 PM

after tax $1070.71, its sold out everywhere at the moment even i had issues of people buying and canceling it is how i got it in my hands online... Randomly showed up at bestbuy 10 minutes later after being sold out

highly recommend it if you're a competitive gamer with quick reaction time, Yeah higher res is nice but i'm 100% okay with 1080p still, the time advantage is worth it to me now that i've tested it.

Razor Ramon HG 12-21-2020 07:31 PM

Speaking of monitors, anyone use a television as their monitor?

Thinking of upgrading to the 49" LG NANO85 for the extra real estate. It supports 4K/120, has VRR, and is FreeSync and G-Sync compatible.
