Thinking of upgrading to the 49" LG NANO85 for the extra real estate. It supports 4K/120, has VRR, and is FreeSync and G-Sync compatible.

how far are you sitting away from 49inch TV ???

I currently sit anywhere from around 30-35 inches away from my 32".

Did the math and a 49" would be equivalent to about four 24" monitors arranged in a 2x2 1080p grid.

Was thinking of just getting two 24" and calling it a day, but I think they'd be too small now that I'm used to a larger monitor. Then I priced out two 27" when I realized that a TV might work better since the pricing would be quite similar and it would be more flexible overall.

Ideally, a 42-43" would be better for my needs, but there is nothing of that size with HDMI 2.1. It seems like manufacturers like to reserve the smaller sized screens for budget models.

I think the number one issue that I'll probably run into is needing to tilt my head up to see the top part of the screen. I think a height adjustable VESA mount might mitigate this?

LG’s CX48 is supposed to be a really good computer monitor as long as you take appropriate safety precautions for it being an OLED to prevent burn-in.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy a LG CX for monitor use. OLED burn-in would probably be a real problem for me since I have static elements on my desktop all the time. That and I don't wanna spend $2000+ on a monitor.

I do have one coming on the way for use with my consoles though.

It's not though. It's actually happening. Multiple sources including Intel have confirmed it.

I did mine wired, it was picky on what cable I used lol. Didn't like a c-to-c cable, had to use an A-to-C cable.

thinking of going 10700k.
tired of waiting on amd to deliver...and don't really feel like paying re-sellers.

than reviewers saying you won't notice 5600x vs 10700k THAT much.

Nothing wrong with the i7-10700K as productivity and gaming performance is quite similar with the 5600X. Only difference is that it costs a bit more, but hey, least you can actually get it.

Note that if you do go with the i7-10700K, you have an upgrade path to Rocket Lake on LGA1200 while AM4 is most likely retired after Ryzen 5000.

Any recommendations for a laptop around $750? Before or after taxes

It’s for my brother and he does some casual gaming so a “better” integrated graphics system or even an independent card if possible

Just want to scrape out the most performance for the money

twitchyzero 12-28-2020 12:38 PM

I picked up the Asus tuf gaming with ryzen5 4800h and 1650 gpu for 800 on sale from memex for my DJ setup. No complaints here.

On another note, and before I hot fbook market anyone here have any cheap gpu they want to get rid of that's gathering dust?

Built the kid's Minecraft/roblox setup already using 6th gen i5 and rx 570 (good enough for their stuff) , but now they're fighting for comp time. (thanks for the advice in here tho)
Got a hand me down comp from aunt with an i5-7400 I'm gonna just add some ram and the gpu to upgrade the integrated graphics.
Oh shet just realized I'll prolly need a PSU as well dammit lol.
Thanks for any help guys!

BSOD on an AIO desktop code WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR just browsing/watching videos

cleaned the fans, windows restored, bios h/w diagnostics came back clean, updated graphics driver

sometimes it happens twice a day, sometimes it doesnt happen for 3-4 months

nothing strange to report except once the screen didnt turn on, couldn't replicate it

cut my losses?

That error usually its hardware issue.

My 10 years old XPC had BSOD while watching movies. And it happened more and more often. I couldn't figure out what went wrong.
I did update BIOS still no luck, installed fresh windows still no luck.
So, i ran memtest.....boooom, memory stick got lots errors in it.
Replaced ram, i have not seen BSOD since.

But thats just my case, yours might be different hardware issue.
Its PITA to find issues, you will have to cross test those components.

twitchyzero 12-29-2020 09:17 PM

well the bios hardware diagnostic did have a memtest but perhaps not detailed enough
i guess dropping the ram right into my next system solves nothing if it really was one of the ram sticks going
