The main main goal is just general usage, and I had read IPS panels have light bleed problems that VA panels don't. Also it's Costco so i can return easily lol.

Can you recommend a monitor sub $250 at the 24" range? I can't do 27"

Edit: it needs to have built in speakers. I know it's stupid but it's a need... Lol

You definitely don't really need to worry about fresh rate if you don't game. Most monitors now are at least 75Hz and that's more than enough.

Is a curved monitor something you have tried using or looked at before? 24" isn't really that wide so I'm not sure how effective it would be. And if you do photo editing, a curved screen can make your straight lines look warped. Maybe not an issue, but something to think about.

The last one is a QHD, which I like because I'll be sitting quite close to the monitor (2~3 feet), but apparently screen quality is a hit/miss.

Any other ones? I suspect they're all roughly the same at this price point, no?

The 27 inch Asus pro art is rated 2nd on the list. the 24 inch should be similar.

The ProArt is the best of the bunch. The ones with the height adjustable stands are nice, because it lets you have the monitor at the correct height for ergonomics.

Mr.Money 01-21-2021 05:00 PM

height adjustable is a game changer too.

my budget 144hz 24'' was so low to the desk, couldn't move it up or down unless you buy a desk monitor stand, and the newer 360hz with height adjust build-in seems massive just cause its close to eye height without looking down, its weird as hell.

one of those things you have to try to believe it

SkinnyPupp 01-21-2021 05:24 PM

Yeah I adjust my monitor height all the time, depending on how I'm sitting. It's a huge feature you probably would never think about.

Its going on a vesa desk mount, but thanks everyone. I picked up the Asus today! Will try both and update. Thanks RS :toot:

Update: you guys were absolutely right, the Asus is far better. If I didn't have them side by side probably the Acer would have been enough but when compared together the winner was clear. Thanks again!

Araaadi 01-23-2021 05:36 PM

Looking to build a pc, for the first time ever. This is what I put together so far, what do you guys think? Having a hard time justifying a z490 with a 10th gen i7. Will be looking for a rtx3060 as well.

Go AMD. Get a 3600 and spend the money saved on a better gpu. You want 2 sticks of ram to run dual channel for faster speeds. Also get an m.2 nvme drive instead of the 2.5 inch.

Razor Ramon HG 01-24-2021 03:34 PM

Anyone looking for a be quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 for their build?

Bought it yesterday from CC, but I have to replan my build and CC doesn't have any returns for opened products.

Report back after you've used it a bit? Those are exactly the ones I have been looking at and you seem to have similar criteria as me.

lilaznviper 01-24-2021 11:31 PM

just for anyone looking for the 3060 3070 3080 prices have increased. At cost i'm getting average
3080 around 1.2k
3070 around 800
3060TI around 670

varies depending on the brand of card.

Oshiguru 01-25-2021 07:38 PM

Trying to cop a 5600x or 3070 has been really difficult since the beginning of December when I started trying. I have the stockradar discord and notifications on but by the time I get to the cart stuff is sold out. The other annoying thing is they tend to restock when I'm at work and I can only check my phone 1-3 times in a 12 hour shift hah.

So close to going through facebook marketplace

A much needed upgrade from my 3930k and gtx 460 build that i'll be passing to my parents as their netflix / banking / general browsing PC

SkinnyPupp 01-25-2021 07:55 PM

With mining viable again, expect prices to go up and up before they ever level out. Those prices aznviper posted are probably as low as they'll ever be this year. So don't hesitate if you can get one, if you can afford it.

Otherwise a console will be a much better option. Sure they're just about as hard to find, but at least the price won't be insane.

Does anyone have an extra 8pin corsair connector? My cablemod kit only came with 2, borrowing a friend's extra until he upgrades to a 3090. I have a corsair hx1200i.

Does anyone know if evga 8pin will work?

Do not ever fucking use one brand's PSU cables with another brand. Even different models within the same brand might not be compatible.

You will blow your shit up.

holy shit you're not joking.

Basically each brand will reconfigure the inside connector ports to their own configuring type but use the the same standard external Plugs that can will fit ANY PSU.

Great, we've started going backwards.

If you know the pinouts (or have one cable already) you could repin it though.

Seems to be the case nowadays, everything seems to becoming more and more proprietary again..

I do understand that, but from my understanding the hx1200i can use type 3 and type 4 8pin connectors within the corsair psu family. Is that not correct.

Looks like it, so just have to make sure you get the right cable type. Corsair writes it on the PSU end of the plug IIRC.

Prices have gone up a while ago. I think most vendors vendors have already bumped up their price, but some are apparently competing with scalpers. lol

I'm currently looking for a 3060ti. If anyone has any leads on how to get one, please share...

Are you set up on the discord for stock updates?

Got my hands on a MSI one yesterday from newegg but I cancelled because they force you to buy a power supply to. Ended up being $1060 for a 3060ti and a 750w bronze power supply. Just missed a 3060ti from bestbuy for $549.99 today.

According to reddit, there was a 3070 FE at BB too. I'm only subbed to pc sales so by the time a thread is created, I'm probably already at a 10 min disadvantage.

This is gonna sound dumb but I'm kind of "boomer," I don't know what to do with discord. I have an account but I've only used it for gaming to chat with friends. What do I do exactly to see stock and get notifications?

ELI60?

Razor Ramon HG 01-27-2021 09:49 PM

I am in this Discord channel.

https://discord.gg/v5yh6f8W

Join it and then go to the #alerts-signup channel. Click on the emojis that correspond to the stock you want and the province you're in.

Then make sure you enable notifications for Discord and Windows, mute all the other channels and channel groups except for your device, and go check every time there's a Discord notification or ping sound.
