Got a 5600x thanks to a member on this thread. Was frustrating trying to find it (at msrp). First upgrade since 2011 ish when I got the 3930k through retail edge.

I was going to stay with my 1070 but just for fun put my name on a backorder for a 3080 ftw at memory express. I just picked it up this week after a few days of waiting.

I think i'm good for another 5-10 years hah. Only frustrating thing is my GSkill trident RGB isnt recognized by Asus Aura sync and I refuse to install their "Armoury Cache" malware.

Any suggestions on how to stop a 3080 (or similar) to stop sagging? These things are massive and pretty heavy.

I have tried both.

First is the best!!!

Second one will need to see what gfx card you have.
I returned the 2nd one because it's support point goes into the fan...

Haha, when I opened the link for the first one I thought it was a joke based on the first picture.

Leaning towards something like the second one though, for an Asus Tuf 3080.

Just built the new computer, so everything is stock still. 5900x & 3080. Are these pretty standard temps?

With some gaming: HLL 5120x1440p, Epic settings, was getting anywhere from 50-70 fps I think. Also had a second monitor running at 4k with HWMonitor, Firefox.
CPU Value 62C (72C max)
GPU Value 65C (67C max). Hit 100% utilization a few times.

Idle:
CPU Value 38C
GPU Value 41C

Trident has their own stand alone app to switch color
https://www.gskill.com/downloads

also didn't screw with "Armoury Cache" app as i heard even when you install it and unistall it, it injects its self back in the OS like you didn't even remove it.

not 100% on that but what i heard.

Anyone looking for a Ryzen 5 3600X + ASUS ROG Strix B450-F motherboard combo? I decided I'm moving back to Intel so I'm going to put my kit up for sale. Less than a year old, in excellent shape.

I noticed there are RGB versions of the second one hmm.

I'm in this rabbit hole of now looking at anti-sag brackets and cablemod or moddiy 8 pin connectors for my 3080 and seasonic gx-850 since the PSU came with 3 x 2x8 pin (daisy chain) cables

I'm having some heat issues anyone have any ideas?

I always thought my new build felt like it was giving off a lot of heat but didn't think that much of it figured bigger video card more power lol.

Anyway checked temps yesterday and when not underload they are fine. If I fire up a game for instance warzone or something they shoot up into the 90's. I've checked my bios, did a reset back to factory and switched the cpu fan to 100% speed made no difference.

I took my cooler off today cleaned and reapplied paste and reinstalled didn't help. I thought maybe cooler isn't good enough but although it's low profile it's not a factory cooler should be fine, I'm not overclocking or anything.

This is the cooler I'm running

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and my processor is an I7 10700K, motherboard is Asus Rog Strix Z490-A Powersupply 750w and Video card is a 3070.

I'm kind of not sure what I should check next, is it possible my processor is the problem? Defective?

Think it would make a difference if I tried this one out?

I have 3 fans at the front of my case and the one on the cooler. I did order one for the back of my case yesterday which I'm going to install.

You need to have exhaust in the case to get the hot air out. Once you have the exhaust fan it should help out a lot. Try running negative pressure layout instead of three intake fans.

Ok, I'll try that when the new fan shows up should be tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks

The CM Hyper 212 is a much better option. Will be fine for stock clocks and general usage, but I recommend something beefier like the be quiet! Dark Rock 4.

Only recommended use case for that Noctua is in SFF builds where you have no other options due to height restrictions. And even then, people will usually underclock/undervolt it to stay within reasonable temperatures.

The fan will help, but switching the cooler out will have a much bigger impact as heat naturally rises out the top exhaust vents (which I'm assuming your case has).

What case do you have?

+1 what Razor said with getting a beefy CPU cooler. My old PC is a 3930k which runs very hot. Before giving it to my parents i put a https://www.amazon.ca/Noctua-NH-U12S...ef_=ast_sto_dp in it with fan at 100%. The fan is insanely quiet and its capping in the 60s during a load test and 30s in idle. I had a Hyper212 prior which idled it in the 40s

I just ordered that coolmaster cooler I'll also see if that helps at all.

Noctua make by far the best air coolers on the market (well at least they did 7 years ago when I was testing these things). Can't recommend them enough

^^ Noctua runs the same temperature as a single 120mm water cooler, I've seen it, Just make sure your case can fit the big boy air cooler, Shouldn't be any issues

that air cooler on it looks tiny, Made for compact chassis aka Node 202. and the exhaust fan don't skip it!

speaking of temperature, the 240mm Capellix keeps 5600x damn cool on idle and 32 degree's gaming.

I have the same cooler. 30-32 idle but up to the 50s-60s when gaming. I do have a heaty card underneath it and a design over airflow case (Define 7)

Noctua NH-D15 is one of the best air coolers in the market. It crushes any 120mm AIO, and pretty much on par with any 240mm AIO.

Only problem is that it's huge and it may not be aesthetically pleasing, but it's a beast from a functional perspective.
