When I was researching the 3060ti, it sounded like it had no fan control and people complained how it always sounded too loud. I'm not sure if that's the same all across the board.

I avoided Zotac for that reason.

edit: NVM
Just read this one has "Active Fan Control with FREEZE Fan Stop"
Maybe only the 3060ti's didn't have that feature.

I've been using a 3070 zotac card for the better part of a year and put a good amount of stress on it with no issues.

Was anyone able to get an RX 6600 XT locally at MSRP (from CC or Memory Express)?

Laptop troubles again...

So I reinstalled windows on my laptop about a month ago. I just realized the laptop is using the integrated gpu instead of the GTX one it comes with. I read that I can change it if I install the Nvidia driver and go into the Nvidia control panel, except this POS keeps crashing my laptop mid install.

Then when it reboots, it won't load up windows again. I assume cause the video driver is corrupted since it bailed half way. I have to do a system restore each time to revert the settings so I can reboot and actually get back to windows.

My question is, is there any sort of workaround to this?

I'd try to flash the BIOS to the latest version first. After that, I'd go in there (the BIOS setting) and see whether there is an option to choose between integrated GPU vs separate GPU.

On PCs, it's usually done like that at the BIOS level. Not sure about laptops since I've never had a gaming laptop with both a separate GPU as well as the integrated one.

Razor Ramon HG 09-12-2021 03:32 PM

There is a chance the GPU is borked so the install crashes half way when the system tries to initialize it during setup.

Is there any solid way to tell if the GPU got messed up?
I'm reading up something about Certified Drivers. I'm not sure if that means I can't just use the normal drivers offered from Nvidia's site.

I tried to go to Acer (my laptop) and get drivers from there, but it's just the same files from Nvidia's site. No matter what I do, the install always freezes mid way.

I'm fed up and about ready to just return this laptop but no idea how warranty works. This is bs..

Acer Nitro 5

Razor Ramon HG 09-14-2021 01:52 PM

Yeah, no real way to confirm, but just from first hand experiences that when a GPU can't load the driver and you've tried multiple versions it's probably a hardware issue.

Manic! 09-21-2021 11:01 AM

Someone need a GPU great deal for $100. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...ok_story_share

Got an invite to Halo Infinite this weekend for their technical beta.

Wonder if they've optimized it since the last one a few months ago. I remember seeing people complaining about how poorly it ran.

I have two identical desktops

From cpu processors memory motherboard hard drives gpus and hba cards

My problem is on one desktop, when an hba card is plugged in, the computer doesn't boot pass the motherboard/bios splash screen, it'll show the asrock logo (and press del for bios) then immediately go to a blank screen with a flashing _ line, I can't even enter the bios during the load screen (pressing del/f2) doesn't do anything

am I missing something? Everything loads fine without an HBA but with one (even a different one) n nada

is there some bios setting that needs changing that I don't recall changing in the identical desktop?

I've tried bios resetting
Swapping HBAs
Swapping PCIe slots

mikemhg 10-16-2021 10:33 AM

Perhaps a MB issue? Is it brand new?

StylinRed 10-16-2021 12:26 PM

Yeah I'm thinking it's the mb, was hoping it would be something similar

It is brand new from newegg, but it's pass the refund window, guess it'll be a warranty blehhh

mikemhg 10-16-2021 02:35 PM

Does the same issue happen if you insert a different type of card into that same slot?

StylinRed 10-17-2021 04:47 PM

Yeah I've tried swapping things all around, it just isn't working with expansion cards, which is why I thought it was a settings issue rather than a physical one, but I just dunno now, I gave up :lol

Picked up 2x 8TB for my 2-bay NAS. $284 all in. Pretty good deal. Too bad 10TB were even cheaper, but all sold out.

Manic! 10-17-2021 07:19 PM

Ordered 4 12 TB drives. they have a bunch of other drives for sale. Prices seem to cheap. Hoping they don't cancel.

Just got a WD Black drive. I think these are the best prices i've seen so far for them.

AzNightmare 10-19-2021 03:47 PM

lol, I made a backorder at Memory Express back in Feb 20.
They finally called me today to tell me they had a RTX 3060 ti FTW3 for me. Not the same model I backordered, but I guess my name finally made it to the top of the reservation list for any available RTX 3060 ti.

Since I already bought a 3070 about 2 months ago, I guess I don't really need it. They'll only hold it for 2 days. Not sure what I should do. Just pass or buy it anyway (and then be a scumbag and try to flip it, lol)

bobbinka 10-19-2021 04:43 PM

how much is it?
