$350??? I feel like I scammed myself |

Black Friday sale, $249.99. Table top was on clearance $69 at IKEA, but you had to sand and stain it yourself. I bought a can of stain at Home Depot. |
Got the same dual motor base, but in white, for $230~. Put on a generic IKEA MDF tabletop for $80. No issues after a year. |
Anyone still looking for a RTX 3060 Ti? I have a BNIB MSI Ventus 2x OC. |
I was playing around with the Ikea desks at the showroom, it just didn't feel sturdy like it shakes side to side quite a bit. I have a 49" ultra wide that's 30 odd pounds I just feel like that's going to make it worse. |
https://www.amazon.ca/Mr-IRONSTONE-L...dp/B07RXXJHDK/ i'm using this cheapo and the left side of it is maxing out my 65'' for the console while the right side is holding a 24'' monitor kinda dumb but whatever lol! Kreygasm |

building a 12700k work pc for my brother. the guys at CC told me i should use win 11 as the 12th gen' hybrid core' style was specifically built for win 11. they went as far as to say there would be a better chance of OS errors/glitches running win 10 on 12th gen then i would experience with any early adoption bugs on win 11. any truth to that? |
Haven't upgraded yet myself, but I'd definitely put Win11 on a new PC. Especially if you are using other modern components like a fast NVM-E drive |
another question.. i'm thinking dual dell ultrasharp u2722D's (1440p, 60hz) as i've always used ultrasharps. however now i'm considering a higher refresh rate monitor like the s2721dgf. i feel like a higher refresh rate when scrolling through text for work use would be more beneficial than whatever it is the ultrasharp is good at? when i check the specs, it seems the contrast/colour/brightness etc are the exact same between the two.. so what does the ultrasharp do better? |
I had to manually set my refresh to 60 for Elden Ring, and if I forgot to switch back after playing, I would get headaches from scrolling around after... So for me it would absolutely be worth higher refresh even when not gaming! I don't have any recommendations on models, but definitely look for 144 Hz minimum. |

If it's just for text, either should be fine, but you'll probably see more "practical" use out of a higher refresh rate. Oddly enough, based on what I read on RTINGs, if you can calibrate the S2721DGF with something like a SpyderX, the panel actually has a wider colour gamut. Too bad the black uniformity is ass, although for text work, it probably won't matter much. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools...threshold=0.10 |
ton of streamers using windows 11 no issues gaming. if its a newer intel chip that benefits more with upgraded software i'd do it. |
I've been on Windows 11 since it was available. No issues either with my i7-12700K and 3080. |
Seems like a pretty good deal for someone who needs a computer. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...type=top_picks |
Mike's computer shop is done. They are in bankruptcy protection. All remaining stock is being sold by a 3rd party. |
Well that sucks, they were my preferred place to get stuff after NCIX shut down. |
Whats a good airflow case and fans? Currenty my system 5900x/3080 sounds like a jet engine running in a Fractal meshify case with some corsair RGB fans and a dual 120mm rad. Can feel a significant bump up in ambient temperature (along with sound) when computer at load. |
Meshify itself has pretty good cooling itself. What are the temps that you are seeing right now and the cooling configuration? The radiator in the front will keep your CPU cooler at the expense of a hotter GPU. Putting the radiator at the top will keep your GPU cooler at the expense of a hotter CPU. I highly recommend undervolting the 3080 since you can shave off up to several degrees with a very minor hit to performance as well as setting up custom fan curves. You can confirm if it's an issue with the components just being hot overall or whether it's an issue with the cooling configuration by taking off the panels and running your system open-air at load. |
i'm still using this case and its wind city compared to those "silent" cases. only time i've felt the 240mm rad get warm was under heavy load. fan right underneath the GPU...mostly 20-30% under gaming. |

Cooling config: Front: 2 140mm intake (ML140 LED White) Top: 2 120mm exhaust (rad) (ML120) Back: 1 120 exhaust (ML120 LED White) Side panel is on Low load/Idle: CPU: 45C RAM: 37C GPU: 40C Stock 3080 settings atm. ASUS TUF 3080 nLHR Fan curves are auto. EDIT: Gaming: CPU: 71C RAM: 47C GPU: 68C without side panel it only goes down a few degrees each component, doesnt seem too significant. CPU does drop like 4-5C. still sounds like a jet taking off though. using corsair ML120 and ML140 fans currently. |
Not sure if appropriate thread but what's a good wireless router these days? I have a 5+ year old Netgear R6220 wireless router and it has been very reliable up until recently. Various devices, be it iPhones, Android devices, Nintendo Switch etc. will be connected via 5Ghz WiFi and suddenly crap out. Switching to 2.4Ghz works but not ideal. I check the router logs an it shows the devices are entering the wrong password, so I'm kind of like WTF? The router is powercycled regularly and has the latest firmware updates. I have a combination of devices connected at any time, including laptops, tablets, and some appliances such as my Ecobee thermostat and washer/dryer. Total amount of connected devices could be anywhere from 9 to 14 at any given time. Square footage of my place is about 1500sqft spread across three levels (no basement.) We only stream Netflix/YouTube etc. and no gaming involved. Thanks in advance! |
I'm super happy with my TP-Link Archer AX50. Wifi-6 router that is fast, reliable, and affordable. I upgraded to Wifi6 on my PC and it's as fast as a wired network Always make sure your router is as high as possible for best connectivity... A wifi network is like a water fountain, where it shoots the signal into the air and it comes falling down. So if you have 3 stories you will probably get the best results on the top floor. You may need extra access points to reach more horizontally though and through walls |
Thanks for that. So far, WiFi performance has been good since living here for over a year and a half, so no qualms there. It's just that the router keeps thinking my devices are authenticating using the wrong password and that part itself is quite annoying. |
