I use the Logitech Z533s. I think a lot of people shit on them, but they work fine for me and were easy to purchase, lol.

Personally, i wouldn't get this particular 3090 due to GDDR cooling issue.
Plus, this card is an Zotac card, which means no warranty for 2nd hand video card.

Price is real good tho.

Got a set of PSB Image B1's running off a Yamaha receiver for like under $100. I'd recommend any used home AV thing with some book shelf speakers and they're leagues better than any PC specific speaker setup out there.

Quick update on the new PC building plans:

After talking to ME about hiring them to build the PC for me, I'm gonna backtrack, skip a few hours of sleep, and save myself the $100-ish labour cost to have them build the machine. At the end of the day, I know I am a cheap bastard.

But here comes the million dollar question -- for CPU, mobo, RAM, SSD, and PSU, if you see the item / model that you are considering going on sale during the lead up to Black Friday, do you buy now? or do you take your chances and wait until BF?

There is no major rush to get the new system built since I still have a backup PC that I can use should my main one really stop working. Plus I'll probably only be able to squeeze a 1/2 hr here, and an hour there to get the new PC put together anyway, so I can certainly afford to wait a bit since I expect the actual building to be a drawn out process anyway.

Based on some very crude research, the following is what I have in mind for now:

CPU:
Ryzen™ 5 5600G, or

Mobo:
Asus PRIME B550M-A/CSM

32 GB RAM
1TB M.2 SSD

Black friday deals.. I don't think you will see much for CPUs and GPUs and motherboards, but definitely on storage.

Looking to get a new monitor for ps5 gaming and to use with my gaming computer with a 3070.

I went and picked up an 32” Aorus FI32U for $899. I know my computer won’t be able to max it out on most games.

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00117707

Today I just saw the 28” Samsung G7 4K 144hz monitor on sale for $799

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00120061

I’m having a hard time decided to keep my Aorus or go exchange for the Samsung.

I only had Samsung odysseys before and never had an issue. I hear some bad things about Aorus but the monitor I got seemed to be pretty good and the quality of the stand is quite nice.
Downfall to Aorus is the brand reputation and that the 4K hdmi 2.1 is 24gbps for ps5 and I don’t know what that really effects.
Downfall to Samsung is that it’s 28” so much smaller and I heard that you can’t tell a huge different from 1440p to 4K at 28”.

Which would you choose and why?

Don't know why but I bought another mouse. Glorious Model D for $32.57 shipped. Regularly $79.99 before shipping and taxes. Use the coupon code glossy70 . Only works on the glossy model I believe.

I would stick to something at 1440p if you're going to be gaming with it on your computer. No need to fiddle with resolution scaling since pushing 4K on a 3070 is going to be hard even with DLSS. Although I guess if you plan on getting an RTX 4000 series card down the road it might not be so bad since the tensor cores on those are significantly better. PS5 supports 1440p now as well.

I used to have a 32" BenQ EX3203R at 1440p and thought it was a perfect size/resolution for gaming. I don't think you would have any issues with something similar.

I am currently using a 34" LG 34GN850-B that's 3440x1440p. No issues with my 3080, but that also has G-Sync so I don't really notice any frame rate issues. I would not recommend an ultrawide for console gaming unless you like black bars on the side or don't mind a stretched image.

But to answer your question. Out of your two options, I would stick with the 32" Aorus. It's a better size for the resolution and you seem happy with it. The HDMI 2.1 24Gbps bandwidth limitation just means it'll subsample at 4:2:0 instead of 4:2:2 (PS5 is 32Gbps so it won't do 4:4:4). For console gaming, it probably won't matter too much unless you're playing games with heavy text. Not an issue with your PC since you can just use the DisplayPort instead.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/chroma-subsampling

Since you already have the monitor, if you're happy with it then that's all that matters.

Ughh feels bad, I thought I was going to build a banger of a PC for my FIL as a surprise gift, but then he mentions that be might buy a Bestbuy Black Friday computer for $1,300. The 12700 CPU is a clear step above the 5700X I got.

You can still build it for him. A custom PC will always be a more appreciated gift and surprise than him buying a pre-built - even if the 5700X is a little slower than the i7-12700. Rest is probably bottom of the barrel parts.

There's also a lot of room left for shaving a few bucks looking at your build - assuming he's not looking for SFF.

He wants to use the computer for editing his vacation videos when he retires in the next 1-3 years, so I'm hoping my combo wouldn't be too much slower than a 12700 for that purpose. I know I have a better, quieter cooler, more RAM, more storage, and would look better than the prebuilt... so I at least have that going for me

Spoiler!

I know I'm paying more because of ITX though so this is probably as good as it gets at the current pricing.

The 4000X is my favourite Corsair case. Ran a custom loop for my CPU/GPU two years ago using that case. Extremely tight, but made it work. Then I realized what a pain in the ass a custom loop is (GPU died, had to take apart everything multiple times) and said fuck it and sold it all.

I snagged one of these and finally got a chance to actually use it. It's the first actual gaming keyboard I've purchased so definitely a different feel than I'm used to but it seems nice so far. I seem to be getting extra characters when typing with it but that might be a learning curve thing.

I also got a new Logitech G502 Hero after my G500 kicked the bucket after 12 years. I'm mostly happy with that too, the buttons and adjustable weight are nice like they were on the G500, but I'm not liking the scroll wheel so far. It feels weighted which is nice for the infinity scroll but the finish is really smooth so when I'm using it normally my finger tends to just slide across it instead of actually scrolling. I have to press down to get it to move and even then I can feel my finger sliding around a bit.

We'll see if I manage to get used to that or if I'll have to hunt for something else. Infinity scroll is a must have for me though so that limits my options quite a bit.

picked this up last week.... holy moly you see 4k gaming at 120hz... every single detail in models and can tell when programmers get lazy playing shitty mp4 movie files vs process loading it via GPU into cutscenes ..lol.. was going to go Nvidia but the cost was a bit high for me on a budget build to reach 4k 120 fps or near it.... 4090 rtx costing 2.3k is way too much i care to spend.

so far im super happy with it. got it from amd.com at 7 am launches.
