Shit thanks! I was actually looking at the gtx 460 Newegg.com - MSI N460GTX-M2D1GD5/OC2 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card But the 550 to may look like the better deal |
550TI is pretty good. I got mine at ME when it was on sale for $79 |
so I just picked up the EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti FPB for $86 + tax @ ME. but now I saw a used gigabyte hd 6870 for $125. I think the 550 ti should be more than enough for my purpose, but the hd 6870 seems like a really good deal. any inputs? |
nvm reformatted :( |
Yes! Just picked up a Gigabyte windforce 6870 for $125. I have a quick question, what is the difference between pwn and non-pwn fan? only thing I understood from google was that pwn is pulse modulated, but I don't understand how that works for a fan and how is it beneficial over a non-pwn fan. someone care to explain? |
what do you guys think about the AMD A8-3870 Black APU for a basic build, with light gaming ? |

There should be no difference really. PWM is usually used for CPU fans and has 4 cables on the header. Most motherboards nowadays should be able to variate the fanspeed via voltage. |

Noctua D14 for 49.99! Noctua NH-D14 LGA1155/1156/1366/AM3 I7/I5/PHENOM Heatpipe Cooler W/ NF-P14 140MM & NF-P12 120MM Fan - Noctua - NH-D14 Anyone that needs an upgrade for one of the best air coolers or building a new rig, better hurry :ahwow: |
so IF i were to upgrade my CPU fan, is the D14 MUCH better than the Thermalright Silver Arrow? Cuz that's what I have now. |
on SPCR everyone recommended to me the silver arrow over the D14, i'm sure they're both very good. |
pwm = pulse width modulation. In short, it makes the fan speed variable. |
just installed the hyper 212+ I noticed once I go into windows the fan stops spinning (works fine in bios/bootup)..or at least it looks like it tries to spin every few secs but only moves a few mm. It's installed correctly and there's nothing hindering the fans from moving I tried changing BIOS settings from Auto to PWM...same deal. temps are mid30ish idle Is this normal or do I have a defective fan? |

anyone else? |
whats everyones temp like? im using 2500k oc to 4.5ghz with a h60, couple fans, getting around 50c with normal usage. |

i bought the Asus G75VW ASUS G75VW 17.3in FHD Core i7 3610QM Quad Core GeForce 670M 3GB 750GB 8GB HDMI Notebook 1 Year Wrty - ASUS - G75VW-RS72-CA for $1350 taxed in.. got a really good deal on it but how does this laptop go in terms of gaming? i'm going to add an ssd to it as my primary drive and use the 750gb as a secondary and i'm prolly good with just 8gb ram and not need the 16gb? if i want to plug this into my 24" or even my 32" TV would the 670m be sufficient to run at ultra settings?? i didn't open the box yet coz i don't want to pay the restocking fee on open box.. any suggestion/feedback on this laptop? |
670m should be okay. It's one of the faster gpu's that are available. Ultra really depends on what games you're playing. |
What's a good program to monitor health and s.m.a.r.t.(?) of your hard drive? |
looking to downgrade my video card and move into a smaller case. currently using a GTX 280 (13.26“ X 10.23“ X 2.67“) which will interfere with my hdds. any suggestions for a smaller one (size wise)? Probably only using this for the occasional D3 game. |

what type of cooling? how many hard drives? how small do you want the case to be? and most importantly: whats your budget? |
i have i7 2600k normal clock, under 80% load i can maintain under 45 deg with my DH14 usually, but when my room is smoking hot it usually goes up On another note: Lately i've noticed [im asuming it's my mechanical drive] kind of "clicking" or making a noise like it would when you would explore it originally etc. it kinda has been making noises on it's own now for a while when i havent even been accessing it i havent noticed any performance issues and ive backed all my stuff up, but should i be concerned? |
clicking means drive is about to die |
