I have recently revamped my SSD testing methodology, and I think I have a pretty good collection of tests to make definitive recommendations.

If you are in the market for a new SSD, the one to get is the Intel 520

I will explain more in my next review, but I thought I would give everyone here a preview:

That is one test that shows consistency of drives when entering a steady state.

There is at least one other SandForce drive in there, so it's not just a controller issue. Firmware and flash hardware also seems to be important.

BTW the drive at the bottom of that chart is a Samsung 830

Did you end up finishing this?

Anyone looking to get an Intel 520 180GB SSD? Just ordered my 3770k thru Retail Edge and I'm allowed to get this too. But I haven't ordered it yet.

Just finished the testing. One of the drives died, and it took a LONG TIME to get a replacement.

As for RAM, how can I tell the diff between high and low? Any recommendations? Wanna stick with 8GB sticks.

:okay: Guess I'll wait for Boxing Day for the 7970 which I did not hear from anywhere.

Why not get

You can but you'll get charged quite a bit. That and I'm guessing it's super busy at around this time of year and their techs may not even have the opportunity to get to your comp in time.

Why not post here? We have more than enough computer peeps that know their stuff to help out unless you're hesitant about your own skills.

Just post what happens when you push the power button. Any fans go on? Or just nothing? Did you check all your connections and make sure you're placing them in the right locations?

Ok so I just ordered the ASRock 970 EXTREME3 which specs:

"- Supports DDR3 2100(OC)/1866*/1800*/1600*/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Max. capacity of system memory: 32GB**

*1866/1800/1600MHz memory speed is supported depend on the AM3/AM3+ CPU you adopt. For detail CPU specification, please refer AMD official website."

And the AMD website states that the AMD Phenom II X4 965 can only handle 1333? But Some googling told me that the CPU doesn't affect the memory limits? So can I get 1600 or will it not work?

Any help?

Check your RAM is slotted in correctly and tightly.

What do you mean by lights? Is the fan from the CPU or from the PSU?

How is this looking so far? Need some final tweaking before I get the RAM tomorrow at ME (Looking to get the Patriot Black Mamba Viper 2x8GB sticks for 49.99).

Im weary about the video card. Stick with the 7870 posted earlier? Canada Computers has the ASUS board at 89.99 tomorrow but I dont think thats only in store.

I just had nearly the exact same problem, turned out to be a bad PSU. Remove everything but your CPU and hit the power button and see what happens.
