i finished setting up my ssds and i was wondering if my ssd on srt cache my music files if i access them a lot? cause thatd be such a waste

SkinnyPupp 01-01-2013 10:01 PM

SRT works automatically, so don't worry about it. Once you set the cache, nothing is 'wasted'

any recommendations on a good affordable(~$100) router?currently have a dlink dir615 and its not the greatest and its pretty old. can barely get 3 bars of wifi signal from like 15feet away. will be using a asus n53 usb to connect to it if thats any help.

roastpuff 01-02-2013 05:52 AM

Don't think so. What I do is use a wake on lan app on my phone to turn on my devices.

So I bought a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard/touch pad, since my wireless mouse died, and it can put my laptop to sleep and wake it up as well!

!MiKrofT 01-02-2013 09:07 PM

StylinRed 01-02-2013 09:07 PM

Didn't say it was good or bad, just that it's the top linksys model. ;-) too soon to buy ac routers imo.

It is, just wait for the tech to mature a bit. I'm still worried about the 5GHz signal ranges, they degrade quite a bit through walls/distance.

The RT-N56u's definitely a great router to go with, given that you can bear with it not having any 3rd party firmware, and the fact that it runs hot even with proper positioning.

StylinRed 01-03-2013 11:14 PM

ive got the N56, have had it for a year+ now

its a great router, love the ui, looks, havent had to reset it once a week ;) but the 5ghz signal is weak; i've got the router in my office and upstairs +1 room over in the kitchen the 5ghz is weak and drops

id try the n66u instead

anyone have this or have listened to them?

Edifier S550 5.1 Speaker Set 280W RMS Black Wired Remote with LCD Display

how is the quality, is it worth the price, and what other speakers would you recommend?

While I have no experience with these speakers, I highly suspect that you could get better sound for roughly the same amount of money if you spend it on a pair of good headphones + entry level amp. Of course, headphones and a 5.1 speaker system aren't even remotely similar, but if your goal is to get some better sound, I think the headphone+amp route should at least deserve some consideration.

J.C 01-06-2013 01:42 PM

i asked a friend and he recommended me the a5+, or the a2 + s8 sub
and im not a fan of using headphones =/
i have to do some research first

Damn, I missed that? :(

Also, am I nuts for wanting a HP Envy 14 Spectre? I know it's hardware is one generation old but it still one of the best looking laptops out there.
