Whoops. I meant to say that any deal lower than $149 for an external 3tb should be a decent deal. The $100 for a 3tb was a crazy deal.

im having a hard time choosing between these 3 video cards

which one is the best for around $200-250 ? im open to other suggestions as well

ALSO. is it better to have 2x8GB or 4X4GB RAM? debating between the corsair blues and blacks

I also need a PSU recommendation (650W)

2x8GB ram (option to upgrade later on), but also depends on specs and if you want to OC them.

Corsair Professional HX650W modular power supply - $99.99

Toms hardware has goood reviews for price/performance on video cards

Go for the Tahiti card. It is basically a 7950 under a different name... better value than the regular 7870 and the 660OC. It matches up good against the 660Ti.

Also, 2x8GB is preferred.

Any Corsair PSU should do the trick, otherwise, Antec.

You mean Price Matching/Beating?
If so Memory Express has the sickest price beat policy:

Did you buy the Corsair HX650?
Not sure if they are just going to match the price or if they are willing to do the Uber price beat for you because you are comparing against their own price.
If they are willing to do uber price beat for you then it'll be $92.50+tax if you paid the regular price of $129.99 on Saturday.

Hopefully they don't mind, this is the first time I've bought a lot of parts from them and doing price beats and everything has been smooth so far. They guy who helped me was nice too lol.

Yea I bought the corsair HX650.

Also, Vansterdam go with the PCS+ 7870 Tahiti LE. From all of the reviews I've read it's the best bang for buck especially with the free game offer.

GTX660, if you're willing to shell out the cash. Personally I have no use for 3D so a 7850 is next on my radar.

What does your guy's cooling solutions look like?

I'm trying to decide which fans I should get with the R4. I currently have a couple Noctua 120mm's but I might change them to something else.

Thinking of:
2x 140mm fans for front intake
1x 120mm fan for bottom intake
1x 140mm top and rear exhaust?

I cheaped out on my case so I have limited fan mounts. Had to invest $$$ in great fans as a result.

Cooler Master Hyper 212+ with Scythe GT-AP15 push/pull config

Silverstone AP121 intake fan

Corsair AF120 Quiet Edition

With my window open (4th floor apartment in White Rock = super cold and breezy air) under 50-70% CPU usage and my AP15's turned up to 100% speed, I average 35-40 degrees. Pretty impressive for a 4.0GHz OC on a Phenom II 965BE

I wish my case had a top exhaust fan though, or vents on the top. It would make a world of a difference in temps since my AP15's are blowing upwards with no exhaust fan at the top of the case. The hot exhaust just heats up the top of my case lol.

Hmmm....so I decided against getting the Powercolor Radeon HD 7870 PCS+ MYST TAHITI LE and will be picking up another used MSI TWINFROZR II 560 Ti to run SLI with the identical card I have in my rig.......Hopefully it won't disappoint.

I have a SLI 560Ti setup (ASUS 560Ti DirectCUII) and I think the 7870 would have equal or better performance than the setup, since a 660Ti is roughly two 560Ti's.... I'm considering the move myself in the future (summertime?)

My old 8800GT died on me this weekend. Tore my brother's old 8600GT out of his old computer just so I could keep using this computer. Problem is that its loud as fuark, suggestions for a new card that is better than the 8800GT and in the lower part of a $100-$200 range?

Amen. Less issues with drivers too... I've had issues with games and SLI where they don't support it and need me to disable one card.

GTX650 ought to be cheap now. If you get the custom cooling configurations, they ought to be quieter than the regular, which was already pretty quiet. Otherwise, the card that was discussed a few posts back (7870 Tahiti LE) would be a very good card for a little more (~$220 + rebate).

lol, they should have no problem doing a price adjustment.
but they won't uber price match their own price.
the uber price is to beat competition pricing...
