should i buy the corsair HX650 now? or do you guys think the price will be even lower then 100$ in a month or two?

im in no rush to build and am gonna buy my parts slowly as they go on sale. hoping to complete this build by summer but im really waiting for that retail edge deal or something similar to buy my CPU.

my budget is around $1500 MAX ..
this is what i have so far. I just need to figure out approx the best price i can get each part for as they go on sale.

i7 3770k + CoolerMaster 212 Evo
Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
Corsair HX650
Corsair Vengeance black 2x8GB=16GB RAM
Powercolor Radeon HD 7870 PCS+ MYST.(TAHITI LE) 2GB 6Gbps
Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green SATA3
ASUS DRW-24B1ST 24X SATA DVD Writer OEM Black
Fractal R4 w/ Window

i haven't figured what SSD drive to get though.

is the Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB worth it or should i go for the non pro version?

kinda pricey compared to the other SSD out there. was thinking of putting my OS on it.

im thinking of getting 2 SSD. one for my OS and the other for games and apps

how is the Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2 2.5in 256GB ? the price, reviews and size seem pretty good.

I might get the 128gb or 256gb crucial m4 and maybe the 840 128gb pro series to go with it.

total right now with both SSD cards i listed is approx $1600 before sales and taxes so i can probably easily get this below $1500

unless i see a really good deal on a video card+SSD+CPU+MOTHERBOARD ill probably buy those last.

what do you guys think?

Will mostly be for browsing/downloading/gaming and music editing.

yea they adjusted it no problem haha. After he did it I jokingly asked why he didn't beat it with the 25%.

Been to ME 3 days in a row now and dealt with the same person lol.

ive only have sli for less than a year but honestly everything is gravy...never had to disable a card. SLI profiles are usually out before new games are released. I only run into microstutter when fps dips below 30. I don't have experience with CFX however.

damn 8800GT was a great card...good to know it served you probably 6 years?

if you dont need the latest & gratest
i'd say used $70 for GTX 550ti....or new $100 7770 GHz

wtf really?
I was reading up on performance charts all day and read that 560 Ti SLI is between 670 and 680 performance.
Now I'm bummed.
Anyway, I picked up the card today and ran some benchmarks before going SLI. Was using Unigine Heaven 4.0 and Had about 80% boost over single card. I'm satisfied, lol.

but FUCK, I had to be a retard and put my hand against the fan to feel the air.......just wanted to check it was working properly but my fucking finger came in contact with the fan and broke off one of the fins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111
fucking annoyed the hell out of me and replacement fans are going for $20 a piece..................:banghead::banghead: :banghead:

I'd wait for a sale on the Seasonic x750 or x850. Gold rated plus newegg.com has them on sale for $90 to $100 every few months (they just had one last month)

Finally finished putting the comp together:

Decided on sticking with the Intel 330 240GB SSD for now. Will get a 840 Pro in a few months.

StylinRed 02-18-2013 11:55 PM

ah memoryexpress priced the hdd at $120

that's alright i guess

in a month or two, all those listed items will be cheaper...

Vansterdam 02-19-2013 05:54 AM

thats not true sometimes prices go up and down by ALOT :suspicious:

like when intel had their retail edge sale.

im pretty much trying to see whats the best price i can get each item when its on sale.

yea, if you want to build you computer now, just get it. No regrets! think of it this way, hey i got to build my computer now and use it! yay! or dammit its on sale for like 20$ less 1 month later.... but i havent gotten to use my computer. Prices will increase or decrease. if it goes on sale, just buy it lol. in the end, your computer is like 1500$, does 20$ really hurt you? plus all that fun you'll have within the month... imo its worth it.

840 pro is just the most amazing ssd out there overall. the m4 has been out for a long time and at one point in its life time, considered the best ssd. You wont see a huge difference because SSD's are so fast (like 10 secounds at most for applications tht require read/ write). if you want like 9/10 performance and 10/10 price, get m4. 10/10 performance and like 8/10 price, get 840 pro. (thats just an example XD).

For browsing, download, and gaming you wont really see a difference between m4 and 840pro (except for like opening the browser or game if you have amazing eyes)

music editing, ssd will help.

I think Ferrari enzo is referring to the release of intel Hashwell cpus in a month or two.

I haven't sold any computers on RS before haha

Has anyone experienced BSOD from a fault HDD? One of my hard drives from my old computer that I transferred over kind of died and when I tried to do a error check on it using HDTune, it froze my new rig and then I got a BSOD.

Also trying to boot back into windows didn't work, it stops loading when the colorful dots start making the windows logo.

I'm almost 100% sure it's the HDD that did this but would there be anything else? I've tested the RAM and it looks good.

Looking at getting the 840 Pro sooner now, going to stick all my games on the Intel 330 240GB instead.

twitchyzero 02-20-2013 10:20 AM

if you stick an old boot drive into a new computer it's gonna have problems (because it retains the drivers of the old computer..when it's put into a foreign system sometimes it acts up)

I'd suggest putting it back in your old system to see if it works...if does...then you know that's the case. If you want to make it as your boot drive in the new computer you would have to fresh install windows.

ForbiddenX 02-20-2013 10:26 AM

The hard drive that was causing the problems didn't have any drivers on it. It was a hard drive where I kept all of my applications and games on.

I got the BSOD once it reached a certain sector on the HDD. Not sure why this would prevent me booting from my actual windows drive though. I did a fresh install on it.

Fuck guys any idea why this is happening?

I updated my BIOS because my mobo couldn't see any of the sata drives that I plugged in. After I updated that's what happened. Could t be an issue with the PSU or MOBO only?

Maybe try resetting the BIOS by pulling the battery?

if you read on forums people mention that cosair psu are just rebranded seasonic..so if you're comfortable with corsair seasonic is definitely fine.

x750 would be better than hx650.

I've been able to order off newegg.com using paypal so if you catch a deal there you'll save taxes as well.

twitchyzero 02-20-2013 09:05 PM

x750 is prone to coil whine
otherwise it's a top tiered PSU
it's dead silent because fans only spin when load is 70%+

should've checked if AHCI was enabled first under bios...at this point try resetting CMOS as someone else suggested.
