If I remember correctly it turn out there was some bad grounding or something and one of the screw holding the mobo was causing the issue.
Not sure if that could be the cause for your issue because it seems like it's more on the software side since it happened after you updated your BIOS.

lilaznviper 02-20-2013 09:58 PM

there could be lots of reasons why that is happening. I had something similar like that happen to me. tested everything and ended up it being the motherboard and cpu being bad.

I would test psu first then start eliminating parts

FerrariEnzo 02-20-2013 11:57 PM

unplug everything except power to the MB... there will be a beep saying something is missing, then try 1 stick of ram and see if you get a beep, then try 2, then with HDD..

x750 would be better than hx650.

I've been able to order off newegg.com using paypal so if you catch a deal there you'll save taxes as well.

speaking of which..there so happens to be a sale..
Newegg.com - 72-POWERHOUR Sale + Some Superb Refurb Deals.

StylinRed 02-21-2013 12:37 AM

Had the same problem in the past

a couple of times

once it was because the motherboard was touching the case (iirc)

and another was because the video card or cpu or psu was busted (cant remember think it was the psu)

With this type of deal, typically would NCIX / ME still do price-matching?

I doubt NCIX will.
But ME will for sure. As long it's the exact same item.

Dying for a new MMO mouse, have my eyes set on the Razer Naga as it seems like it has good reviews. Corsair has the Vengeance M90 but it has mixed reviews, mostly related to bugs and driver issues. Can anyone offer any suggestions based on personal experience?

I have the Logitech one (forget the exact model number) and overall I really like it. I find it felt a touch big for my hands at first but I got used to it pretty quickly. It's got (IMO) quite a few nice features, completely customizable DPI settings, completely customizable buttons, stores up to 3 completely separate setups that you can swap between on the fly using buttons should you choose to map it like that, thumb buttons are backlit with customizable colours to tell the setups apart (ie for mine blue is Guild Wars 2, red is Guild Wars 1, green is League of Legends). So far it's held up great, no bugs or issues whatsoever.

Just realized that I quickly popped in a Radeon card to play Torchlight II last night, and I played all night without having to install the drivers :fulloffuck:

SkinnyPupp 02-21-2013 11:04 PM

I didn't notice it until I tried to use photoshop... Weird that the game worked fine but ps didn't!

Picked up a used 7970 off Craigslist. Saw it working before buying. Popped it in and windows did not detect!!! After about over an hour trying to figure it out turns out it was bios profile which was preventing detection. Reset to stock and catalyst detectsthe card. All I could say was WOW! Only thing I had installed was saints row 3 and it was just running ultra at 1080 no problem!

frametime and frame metering has become more commonly used to study microstuttering in games.

even oc software like afterburner or precision X now offers frame time monitoring.

results comparing 680/7970/680sli/7970 cfx from a dvi capture card
Frame Rating Part 3: First Results from the New GPU Performance Tools | PC Perspective

it's similar to hp values on the flywheel of a car vs hp at the wheels...what's rendered by your GPU isn't what's displayed on your screen.

edit: oops meant to post this in the titan vs 690 thread

i just bought a gtx670 last july/august. and now with 680 and titan, it feels so old already :okay:

twitchyzero 02-24-2013 09:46 AM

factory OC'd 670 is on par with 680 and it costs 60% less ($600) than the titan for being 30-40% slower

don't let the marketing hype get to you
