^if you don't mind pickup from the states newegg.com has tons right now...15% off select ssds..bringing them to about $160 for 256gb no tax

Anjew 04-21-2013 10:52 PM

hey how are people ordering from newegg.com with a Canadian credit card/paypal? i tried to order some items to be delivered to pt roberts but it was cancelled.

Graeme S 04-21-2013 10:53 PM

Is there a big difference in price between .com and .ca?

I just used newegg to pricematch with NCIX. Worked so far (they basically gave me the price after shipping).

cctw 04-22-2013 12:29 AM

^^..paypal works for me..they'll ship as long as your paypal account is confirmed. My friend recently used V.me and worked for him..

^considering usually prices are about 10 to 15% cheaper plus no tax yes I'd say its worth it to buy from .com

Yeah, there's a bit of a whine coming from the pump, and the fans aren't all that silent. That cooler's probably the loudest thing in my rig, keeping in mind that everything else is cooled by large, low-rpm fans. It's my first "water-cooling" part though, so I don't have anything to compare to.

Any good deals on Windows 8 floating around recently? My computer is in need of a reformat so figure I might as well go for the switch too. Windows 7 deals would be appreciated too (I'm not running a legit copy)

asian_XL 04-29-2013 01:48 AM

a couple months left before the intel rolls out the new CPU. Who has the cash ready? and what's your plan?

SkinnyPupp 04-29-2013 02:00 AM

Don't get too excited unless you haven't upgraded in a while. It will only be about 5% faster than Ivy Bridge (but with lower power consumption). If you have IVB or SB already, there's no need to jump on this one.

Unless you plan on upgrading anyway. In that case it will be worth waiting.

asian_XL 04-29-2013 06:19 AM

Planned to replace my old E7200 with IB i7 last year, but so many bad reviews are holding me back. I could play most of the games out there at decent quality with my wife's Intel G620 with HD6800, but video editing is slow, so it is about time to upgrade.

- New i7
- 16gb ram
- Next gen video card
- Raid0 Samsung 840pro (just for fun)

SkinnyPupp 04-29-2013 06:28 AM

Raid SSd is pointless

Bad reviews of IB i7...?

The SB/IB chips are fairly similar, and they're good processors - I don't get what you mean by bad reviews.

BTW, the GTX780 will be pretty much a GTX680, so don't expect much improvement there - same with the Radeon 8xxx series.
