I'll probably get my next laptop at one of these sales in the future :fullofwin:

Sorry I'm a little confused

Do ALL the recent 6950s with 2GB have dual bios switches or is there a specific label or something that mentions about it?

That sapphire one is a bit outta my price point was hoping to spend about 300 taxes in

Buy SAPPHIRE [11188-05-20G] Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort Video Card
Pricematch it with NCIX, Most the the current 6950's should have the dual bio's switch. Certain that the sapphire one has it

probably just me but I dont see the point in spending more than 600 on a laptop these days unless it's an ultrabook with SSD

but most people use their laptop only whereas I still like to do most of my work on a desktop

also personally I would never line up more than an hour for opened box/discontinued computer parts

I am more of the type that prefers to sit in in the comfort of my own home during online doorcrashers and rape the F5 button on my keyborad for 20 minutes

Hondaracer 10-24-2011 07:57 PM

do u guys think its possible to get 5.1 out of my older Pioneer VSX-D510 by using an analog out? ie. headphone jack into computer into white/red RCA to receiver?

i'm trying to setup 5.1 but whenever i switch to the DVD5.1 on the receiver i only get a very flat 2 channel sound soming out of my 2 fronts, nothing from center, sub, or rears

so i might need to get an optical out for my comp? on my realtek audio panel there it's also set to 5.1 output currently

StylinRed 10-24-2011 08:11 PM

you cant get 5.1 out of your headphone jack.. at least ive never been able to

you could get one of those usb->5.1 audio out

best to get that optical cable

for analog 5.1 from pc to receiver i.e. 3.5mm->RCA, you need three diff sets and three cables:
1) center/sub
2) front left/right
3) rear left right

find an optical out jack or get a sound card. much easier that way to run a single optical cable, toslink or coaxial.

Hey guys need some help , I have a rig and I'm trying to play battlefield 3 oh high to ultra on 1080p over 35 frames per second . My current rig lags durring games especialy on 64 player maps on hgih settings. My setup is an amd 1050t overclocked at 3.9 ghz , 5870 video card ,4 gigs of ram set at 1600 mhz . Should I just crosffire my card ? Or sell it and buy a 6950 ?

roastpuff 10-27-2011 06:38 PM

Crossfire if you can get a good deal on another one, if not just sell it and get a 6970.

twitchyzero 10-27-2011 09:52 PM

you can't run high smoothly on 5870?
wow

StylinRed 10-28-2011 07:36 AM

my vaio was shipped today

.... it was picked up for delivery in Yantai, Shandong China.... :crazy2: all my previous custom vaio orders were assembled in the states

rubencruz 10-28-2011 01:00 PM

Ya my fps drops badly durring a firefight on high . My cpu and video card is overclocked cpu from 2.8 to 3.9 . Do u think my comp is overheating ? Or is 4 gigs of ram not enough ? So frustrating I don't want to buy a newcard

SkinnyPupp 10-28-2011 06:48 PM

Just lower your settings. You don't need fancy graphics for multi anyway

SkinnyPupp 11-11-2011 06:57 AM

If not going to OC, you don't need a 2500K, a normal 2500 is identical at stock speed. (edit, I Just saw that this is a combo package. check first to see if it is significantly cheaper to get the non-K version, it might not be if that package is discounted enough)

Get the DDR3 1600 kit if you can for the same price. It will offer a tiny bit of performance in some scenarios, but at the same price why not?

What resolution is your monitor? That video card might just be overkill ;)

If you do get that video card, make sure the PSU you have is good.

SkinnyPupp 11-11-2011 07:02 AM

NCIX.com - Buy Kingston HyperX KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 XMP Dual Channel Memory Kit - Kingston - KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX - in Canada

DDR3 1600, lifetime warranty, under $40 weekly special

Don't expect it to overclock past 1600, but like you said, you don't plan on it

I have tested (almost) the same kit as above (and I did test the Ripjaws you posted)

http://www.hardcoreware.net/wordpres...t-pcmark-7.png

As you can see, all the different timings, etc, don't matter as long as it's running at 1600 MHz.

dealt 11-11-2011 01:15 PM

Stick with the 2500k. These things overclock so well it's stupid not to get 1. 4.5ghz pretty easy just make sure you have a good CPU cooler.

Need some help in upgrading my existing computer. Recently started playing BF3 and I can't even run on the lowest setting without lag.

I'm currently running
MB: P5K dunno what model
RAM: 4GB DDR2
CPU: Q6600
GPU: 8800GT

I wonder if it's ok for me to upgrade the videocard or do I need a completely new rig. I'm not looking to run @ max resolution but medium would be nice.

I think it's time for a new rig man, but you might be able to just upgrade your gpu.

I'm not sure how long you can wait but rumors said AMD will be releasing the 7xxx series GPU's in January 2012.

7970 performance comparable to 6990 :fuckyea:

Grab that Kingston kit at NCIX you won't get a better deal than that on ram.

At 1920 I think a 6870 or GeForce 560 would be plenty. But it's up to you if you want to go all the way with it :)

well maybe ill grab the 6870 and tell him the new cards are coming out Jan :D

and with the savings maybe i'll get him an SSD instead (although the 10sec-ish less load times doesn't seem worth it to me)

thanks guys
