What are you wanting to trade for besides Noctuas? I have some Gelid Wing 12 fans if you're interested, good static pressure and quiet.

Akinari 05-10-2013 10:15 AM

Looking at Noctua's NF-P12, as they are meant for more restrictive spaces such as heatsinks, rads, and HDD cages, but still move enough air to be used as case fans. The S12As are amazing fans, they just no longer work with my new case.

roastpuff 05-10-2013 10:26 AM

Well, the ones I have are these: GELID Solutions > Products

Let me know if you're interested.

Akinari 05-10-2013 11:33 AM

Don't have a fan controller at the moment, don't want them spinning at a constant 1500rpm :okay:

Hondaracer 05-10-2013 11:33 AM

You guys have any good images or links as to how to setup airflow within a case? Feel like mine may be setup incorrectly

Also I think my ram is bad or partially bad..ever since I kinda jarred my heatsink by trying to force my side panel shut I've been having a hell of a time starting my computer, alot of just no signal displayed and my mem check light on my mobo stays on :/

As far as case airflow goes, the basics:

- more intake fans than exhaust = less dust
- hot air rises, so try to put intake fans lower and exhaust fans at the top

Other than that, it really depends on your setup.

For example, I have my Kuhler 620 setup as a rear intake for colder temps

why would more intake reduce dust?

Positive pressure keeps dust out.

Ulic Qel-Droma 05-10-2013 01:33 PM

but wouldn't the intake just suck in the dust instead?

Dust filters, help keep the dust out. Also, yes it would suck the dust in but the positive pressure pushes the dust out while it's still on the air.

Pro-tip: no dust filter? Use dryer sheets. Also makes your computer smell good. :fuckyea:

Yes, but positive pressure means that the air is being forced out, not just pulled out by the other fans, helping push dust out.

Back in my late elementary school/early high school days, I stole some of my mum's pantyhose :lawl: good intake filter

Hondaracer 05-10-2013 03:53 PM

how does this configuration look:

so red are output fans green are intake

underscore 05-10-2013 04:17 PM

Normally the front ones are intake, the rears are output, Take care to note which way your CPU cooler fan(s) are flowing.

I would just make the front intake as well.
Since the vent are on the side, dont know how well it would push air out with the front cover blocking it.

BaoTurbo 05-11-2013 03:00 AM

Front and sides are intake. Back and top are exhaust for me

Why would you use your front fans as exhaust :fulloffuck: those fans are meant for cooling your HDDs, or intake fans in general.

Also, the Define series are meant for lower noise, which is why they come with Moduvent and extensive noise dampening, to take off all the Moduvents and put fans everywhere sort of doesn't justify the purchase of a Define :derp: Could've gotten an Arc Midi instead, or something with more airflow.

Also, unless you have a water cooling setup with a rad at the back, there is not point using the rear fan as intake. Taking off the side Moduvent is silly IMO as there is a bottom intake fan, as taking off the side Moduvent greatly increases noise.

Just my two cents.

I'm eyeing the Corsair Neutron GTX. ME has it for $240:

Corsair Neutron GTX SATA III 2.5in Solid State Drive, 240GB at Memory Express

and NCIX is doing a $220 web-only special:

Corsair Neutron Series GTX 240GB SATA3 2.5in 6GB/S LAMD LM87800 Solid State Disk Flash Drive SSD

If I am reading the ME's price match policy right, it means I can get the drive off from ME for $215, right? Or will they not do a web-only price match at the retail store?

FerrariEnzo 05-11-2013 11:37 PM

ME's Über Price Beat Guarantee
memoryexpress will beat any authorized Canadian retailer/etailer's price both online and in-store, we'll beat it by 25% of the difference, and if you find a better price within 7 days of purchase we'll beat that too!
There is a limit of 2 (two) Über Price Beats per item, per customer, however; if our Competitor's price is limited to only 1 (One) per customer then the limit for price beating that item will be 1 (One) per customer as well. Any items purchased over the Über Price Beat Limit will be sold at regular price.

So according to their site, as long as both ME and other company still has stock, ME will price beat any Canadian online retailer...

underscore 05-12-2013 07:32 AM

^ they can take forever to ship though.

DragonChi 05-12-2013 07:48 AM

there's a store in Richmond.

I agree with everything except sometimes it's good to have the rear as intake, and direct a tower air cooler blowing towards the front of the case, if you have top exhaust fans

Unless the rear of your tower has access to cooler air (for example, rear is facing a window) there's not much of a difference compared to having your intake at the front. It's best to have the rear and top as exhaust if you're using a larger air cooler as most HSF fans blow towards the rear.

Hondaracer 05-12-2013 01:56 PM

my case sits under my desk, but id say the top rear and front fan positions take in about the same amount of "fresh"/cool air when its under my desk
