| Notice And Order
I got pulled over just outside of Little Fort heading up to Sheridan Lake, I got issued a notice and order from the RCMP to get Fender Flares to cover all 4 wheels. It doesnt say how big they need to be (the tires are sticking out 3" so i assume thats how big they need to be but not to sure on the technical part) also what would happen if i dont put them on and get pulled over again? He gave me 21 days to get it done and have it inspected (down to about 14 now)

I had received one of these 2 weeks ago for my brake lights were burnt out.
Got them changed , went to the local police detachment. Brought the notice & order into the desk, they asked me whether it's been fixed or not, obviously I said yes. The ladies at the desk signed it and that's it. They didn't even bother to step out the door to peek and see whether the lights were actually fixed. YMMV though since I went around 6pm just when it's about to close.
If you don't do it, they can seize your vehicle (from what the officer told me).

Ok thanks i was more just wondering the technical side of it, seeing as he only wrote fender flare and didnt specify size couldnt it be anything from 1mm to 1m? Or is the definition different according to the RCMP?

Needs to cover the tread of the tire, like I said. (ie if your tires stick out 3" get 3" flares) Posted via RS Mobile |

Look at the Notice and Order and see if it's a Box 2 or Box 3. If it is Box 3 you will likely bring your corrected vehicle to the police station or to where specified on the order. If it's Box 2, you will need to bring your vehicle to a inspection facility (at your cost) to ensure it's corrected.
IMPORTANT - If you have a box 2 and you do not get it fixed, your vehicle will have a note on it to advise Police to tow it off the road immediately.
As for the technical side of it, the requirements are according to the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations.
Either way, unless you're mechanically inclined you're going to be taking the car to a shop to do the work for you. Better off getting it done sooner than later to avoid any further problems.

From an insurance perspective:
If box 2: if within 30 days, you can drive your car to get repaired/fixed and then to inspection facility. If over 30 days, you cannot get any permits. The vehicle must be towed to the repair/inspection facility.

I got a Box 3 and got it inspected in richmond. An officer actually walked with me to my car and made sure everything was done.

Probably depends on what it was for. If it was only for a burnt out headlight, they probably won't waste their time going to check the ensure you changed the bulb.
