| Is 2hrs enough time to transfer between flights from HKG
I will be flying from Beijing and arrive in HKG at 11:25 (terminal 1) and then I have to catch a 13:25 flight (terminal 2) to Singapore.
Will 2 hours be enough time to transfer between flights bearing in mind that I have go and collect my baggage, check bag into the singapore flight, and go through security?

Short answer: yes.
The airlne should transfer your luggage for you. If not, 2 hours is still ample time to do the transfer from start to finish.

Okay, good to know that 2 hrs is enough time.
And I know the airline will transfer your luggage if you purchased the flights together but i purchased separate tickets. Will the luggage transfer still apply for separate tickets?

are both flights on the same airline? If you first flight is late you will be screwed. Happened to my family in France years ago.

Nope, flights are with different airlines.
Ya, even though 2 hrs may be enough time to transfer flights, I'm scared that if the first flight is late to arrive to HKG I may be screwed. Thinking of being safe and booking the next flight out to singapore at 15:25.

Are you on CX for the Hk - SIN? If yes, usually even when your flight is late, CX will arrange someone to meet you at the gate and take you ASAP. If anything, you would make your flight, and your bags would be on the next flight out.
Off topic, you going for vacation in Singapore?

I've had a shorter transfer at HKG, 1hour.. well really, 45.
From terminal 1-2 as well, it was a fucking gongshow, we basically ran all the way there cause we thought we were gonna miss it but turns out we weren't even the last ones to get on the plane... ..

If you have to go through immigration arrival AND collect your luggage AND go all the way to T2, then do immigration again, etc. I don't know if 2 hours is enough.
If they transfer your luggage for you and you don't have to go through immigration, it will be enough.

Nope, flying with Air China. Going to call them tomorrow and see if they do something similar.
Sort of, doing a 5 week tour of asia so singapore is just one of the destinations.

you will have enough time. You're not entering HK technically...you're considered an 'in-transit passenger'.
and in-transit passengers will have their bags transferred and all you have to do is get off the plane...find a cathay rep and they'll show you to your next gate.
side story, when I transferred planes in Tokyo, I had to go through a security check for liquids and such.

Okay so I called Air China today and asked them if they are able to transfer my luggage for me to the singapore flight but they said they can't since I didn't purchase the flights together. They said I will have to pick up my luggage from hkg and then check into my sin flight and go through security.
I have decided to err on the safe side and book a later flight, which unfortunately is at 8pm, so I don't have to worry about what ifs.
For those wondering why I didn't purchase the flights together, I just purchased a round trip flight from yvr to hkg with air china. I plan to visit singapore, thailand, cambodia, laos, china, and vietnam and then back hong kong for my last destination and fly back to van from there.

Off topic question: My passport has my middle name but my plane ticket only has my first and last name, is this okay or am I going to have issues boarding planes in Asia?
I haven`t had any issues travelling within North America with no middle name on plane ticket but just want to make sure it is the same with Asia.

^ Should be ok, don't usually put middle name on our tickets either since they tend to not have enough space on the borading pass anyways.

some airlines are picky...mainly westjet and air canada (when AC is on the ball).
double check w/ your airline

Should be ok. Friend of mine went to Singapore and Malaysia with a stop over in HK w/o his middle name on the ticket.
