9900 a good phone? Maybe the software is decent. But the build quality of all the recent BB phones suck.
RIM is not gonna build an android phone. Not after they invest all this effort into their current OS. They're making an android app for BBM.
And having all data filter through RIM's servers although more secure is a failure. Just look at the recent downtime with both their primary and redundant systems failing.

In fact I think thats probably one of the biggest gripes over at crackberry, or at least it was when I had a berry.

When you build a network to support the world, and both your primary and redundant servers/nodes fail, you've got some major problems. Imagine if Rogers/Fido, Telus/Bell, Wind/Mobilicity ended up having the same network outage. Not only do you lose data services, you lose voice services too.
I can already picture a scrawny dweeb on Revscene trying to smash up a window in a riot because of such an event. Move over, Vancouver Canucks.

Has anyone here used a 9900 for a few days?
Seriously? The build quality is good for once.

I dunno... I didn't particularly like the way the 9900 sat in my hand.

I agree in every way though, I've never hated on blackberry or any of their features, but they're known for subpar build quality

the 9900 has its build qaulity issues for sure...I'm on my second 9900 since my first one the os crashed in the first month and had to send it back. With my first 9900 the panel for call, back botton, apps menu, and end wasnt flush to my screen and was raised abit. My second 9900 the panel is flush with the screen. Also I have been using the blackberry silcone case for both the phone and it makes scratches on the bezel for some reason. I thought it was suppose to protect it from scratches I guess it doesn't or unless they use a shitty metal material for the bezel that scratches easily.

Remember when the first batch of new phones were still MADE IN CANADA
those were tanks.
Build quality sucks now blackberry. Believe me, I've seen it all.
Those 8700 and 8300 berries were BEASTLY
the 9000BOLD, ive sent mine thru the wash, dropped it countless times. It still works today. albeit a couple trackball replacements
Seriously though, people forget as well that they have no right to complain when they go and swap the bezel of a berry. Then they say it sucks..well u swapped out OEM to a colored part...

Older blackberries are a different story though. My 9000, 9700 and 9780 all had some sort of build issues, whether it was a creaky battery door, clicking/crackling keypad, loose bezel etc

of course are gonna complain about build quality, the black berries have like 50 moving parts on it. Compared to what, 2 on most modern day touch phones?

I'm just saying that if my refurb was perfect, that sort of quality shouldnt be impossible for a big company like RIM.
Which is what most people complain about; the quality control

you morons keep mentioning that you don't need games or a dual core processor yet you seem to not realize that there are tons of other apps or phone features that save you time in your day or even money on other items. I swear blackberry fan boys are the most blind to where the phone market is heading. If blackberry doesn't step up their game they're going to just be another phone, good but not great.

^But Blackberries have always been strictly for business. I doubt there will ever be a need for a dual core processor just to email & bbm work contacts.
Look at what the BB users here have said, they use it for BBM. Correct me if I'm wrong but when was the last time you saw some business executive wishing his blackberry had a dual core processor so he could play grand theft auto on his phone?

I've gone through MANY phones, SE, Nokia, Samsung, HTC etc.
All sorts of OS's (symbian, windows mobile, android etc)
if you like wasting your time on your phone playing games and messing with apps, don't get blackberry. I've always resorted back to BB due to how streamlined it is at just GETTING SHIT DONE.

seriously aside from push email/bis....consumer berry usage has lost it. I am not more productive using the above combo than berry+android back in the rogers day for me.
A berry hooked up to an enterprise server is where the phone seems to shine for business. outside of that, not much
