Fully automated parking at Jameson House

Pretty cool video of the 239 car automated parking system at Jameson House on West 888 Hastings.

Looks cool, but I wonder how long it takes to get your car during the morning rush.

monkeywrench 10-05-2011 11:36 PM

I wonder if they have a backup power source if electricity is down

FerrariEnzo 10-05-2011 11:46 PM

what if there's a mechanical failure... lots of pissed of workers...

melloman 10-06-2011 08:07 AM

Reminds me of Tokyo Drift... =|
Cool none the less but could foresee tons of problems.

jaemc 10-06-2011 08:50 AM

Pretty baus if you tell me. But for sure they would need more "outlets" in cause multiple people need to leave at the same time.

HK airport uses this method for their air cargo freights. This is old news...but new to vancouver.

what if i left shit in my car? do i have to go through this whole ritual just to grab my phone or wallet?

donjalapeno 10-06-2011 10:55 AM

something are best left old fashioned. What the fuck is wrong with a parking garage.

jackmeister 10-06-2011 11:53 AM

just imagine if one of those hydralic jacks holding up the top car breaks and crumbles down onto the other cars below it.

Sendai-shi 10-06-2011 12:12 PM

Stuff like this is old tech in places like Tokyo. Maybe it's starting to make sense in Vancouver due to the value of land in places like DT (smaller footprint than a normal parking lot)

bcrdukes 10-06-2011 12:13 PM

Why they don't have this at Aberdeen and Parker Place is beyond me. Richmond would be less of a casualty centre if they had this.

Greenstoner 10-06-2011 12:26 PM

old tech, experienced this set up about 15 years ago in taiwan already

it was public parking too

GOOD GOD.. you dont want that... NOT in richmond.. those C-Lais would crash into that... or just sit in their cars all confused then crash into the thing when people honk at their asses..

epicbeardman 10-06-2011 01:33 PM

holy fuck, I am more impressed by the inside of that apartment! it's massive for downtown living. *drool.

optiblue 10-06-2011 02:24 PM

this would take forever in the mornings and in the evenings... one person coming and going... yeah right.

JSALES 10-06-2011 02:32 PM

Eff-1 10-06-2011 09:30 PM

epic strata fees to have that

flagella 10-06-2011 09:32 PM

It's cool for sure. Don't think I'd wanna pay extra for this convenience (or extreme inconvenience in case of power down or some mechanical failure).
