2013 Porsche Boxster

Spy Photos: 2013 Porsche Boxster S Caught Undisguised
By Mike Magrath | October 5, 2011

It's not like Porsche to be this careless with the camouflage, but here it is, the 2013 Porsche Boxster S in all its glory.

Note the new side strakes that lead into gaping air ducts, the massive wheels, the fender flares that look like they're pushing the fender up higher than the hood/trunk of the car and then, out back, the wing that splits the rear lights. And then there are those very Z4-like roll hoops.

The profile looks cooler and adds a certain toughness to the Boxster, but I'm still not sold on that rear -- especially the wing. Thoughts?

And while we have no proof of it in these spy shots, you'll remember that this Boxster is expected to be available with a (hopefully turbocharged) four-cylinder. As long as they keep the weight right, a four-cylinder doesn't seem like a big deal in a small convertible. Fingers crossed they've axed that three-cylinder plan, though.

those rear air ducts have gotten quite massive, hopefully more cooling means more power

It feels like they were forced to add some sort of change to the design and put that crap on the taillights for the sake of changing it.

+1 although i havent driven the TTs.

the RS spyder was an amazing car. the regular S wasnt bad either, although i liked the S better with the PDK tranny.. one thing i still didnt like about the current 987 interior was its just so... dated.

The TT-S was boring as hell for me; that tranny is quick, but was no where near as fun as the Cockster/Boxster or Z4 with 3 pedals.
Not a fan of the fwd base engine TT or the front-biased 4wd drive versions either.

To drive, it's the Boxster S > Z4 3.5i > ............. > TT-S > ..................... > SLK

Rear kinda looks awkward.. just looking at the 2nd and 3rd pic, something doesn't look quite right.

I've never really minded Boxsters. But you're always gonna have the douchebags in their used '99-'01 $11000 Boxsters who think they're the absolute shit.

If I had one, I'd just drive the hell out of it as if it were an S2000 or Miata.
