| Oil Change, Besides Dealership?
Just want to know where do you guys get your oil changes for new vehicles.
I would do it myself, but since its a new car, will it void my warranty if i attempt it myself?
I hate paying $90+ at stealership for a basic oil change.
Last time, they charged me 180+ because they had to take my car out for a "road test" according to the service manual.
So any other places that offer cheaper and more economical alternatives, or should i do it myself.
Thanks for all your inputs
If it matters its a 2010 Subaru

I've read on other forums that it's OK to do your own oil changes, just document it and keep receipts.
On another note I think there's a groupon for cheap oil changes with Richmond Subaru right now. Posted via RS Mobile |

I read too that as long as you document the logs and keep the receipts then you're fine.
anyone that actually works at a dealership could confirm that, that'd be great.

pretty straight forward to do it yourself.
If I get 6L 10w40 synthetic its about $100..... not paying someone even more for simple shit

Basically if your engine blows and you have no proof to show that an oil change was done when needed, then your warranty is void. As long as you can prove that all maintenance has been done then your all good.. So keep all receipts and so on.. Don't go to some asian garage get a cheap oil change and pay cash with no invoice.. Warranty wont work that way...

just do it yourself man. Its just a drain plug and oil filter that you have to remove.
Put some good/decent oil in and you'll be good to go.

Take it to any of those oil change places, just bring your oem filter and whatever oil you want them to put in if you don't like what they have.

I take my subaru to Groundzero Autosolution in bridgeport
same plaza as the Enterprise Rent-a-car
i either bring my own oil/filter and give him $20 for him to do it for me
or i order motul oil from him and get an oem filter from subaru, i think he charge me ~$60-70 with labour
honest mechanic, and usually have quick turn around.

should just do it yourself, learned at BCIT that doing your own oil change doesn't void the warranty

...um no.
Many of us live in townhouses/apartments where the stratas don't allow oil changes.
Find a mechanic you trust, an oil change shouldn't cost more than $30.

Find a friend who is an mechanice at a shop, get him to change it and buy oil off him cause he gets discount = profit.
