what about maintenance on the KZ motor? are parts easy to find locally? I've heard from a few ppl that the 2.4L are easy to work on and parts are cheaper? I've looked on other forums but it seem to be a split between the 2.4L and the 3L so may be more ppl on revscene would know more about it? |
From the very little i've read i understand the split you're speaking of. Each one has it's pros and cons, just keep reading and make a list of what people like/dislike about each engine and make your decision based on that. That's the best you can probably do haah. Quote:

lets just say, when you crack ur head on your 2.4L it will not only be expensive, it will be a bitch to replace............and its gonna happen, there is no way around it. toyotas 2.4l turbo was the worse engine design ever!!!!!!! the 2.8L(its actually just called a 3L, but its 2.8) is a great motor, they designed the proper cooling channels through that engine, which keeps the engine much cooler than the 2.4. besides the engine/turbo, both vehicles are pretty much identical. the problem is yes, the parts are relatively easy to get, but holy fuck is it a bitch to replace all that stuff. if i could do it all over again.........id just shell out the extra coin and get the 4.2L VX ltd Landcruiser |
