Thars almost impossible to do i think. I have to hold my hand up the side view, or adjust it away from the lights temporarily when that happens. |

There's also rules about number of fog/daytime lights, which I see more and more people violating as they install quad fogs, then add HID conversions. All in a vain attempt to look like a "luxury" car. |
I had OEM HID's in my Soarer. they did seem a bit dim for road contact brightness, and it had a faint blueish white. Highbeams lit up the road like no tomorrow thou. So i guess some OEM is better than others. Mmmmmm R34 GTR OEM HID's....... |
Sometimes I wish I was a traffic cop just so I could pull over these inconsiderate fuckers that blind everyone with their shitty A/M HIDs. These cunts deserve a fatty fine and a VI. |
Coming to work today, there was an idiot in a Dodge Ram truck behind me. Not only did he have those illegal aftermarket HID's in stock reflective housings, but one light was pointed up towards the sky while the other was pointed down right in front of his bumper. |
whaty happened |

There is too much wrong for the few police officers out there to correct. |
[QUOTE=taylor192;7679934]One of the local officers can correct me if I'm wrong - yet these offroad lights are supposed to be covered up for street use. This prevents them from blinding others. They are all "unauthorized lights"....and prohibited to be installed while on a "highway"......unless they are covered with opaque covers. If they are they are now "Off road lights" and are Ok on a "highway'..but the covers must be there. |
Ugh, tempted to try that driver's mirror trick. Or, if the police would be willing to act on video proof, I'd even go for a dash cam to get their license plate. If anyone's planning installing HID's, it better be with a projector retro. |
Someone flashed me for the first time today. I was going up a hill and my cutoff happens to be above their eye level haha. |

Good thing we don't have any hills in Metro Vancouver! Oh, wait.. |

Unfortunately, the problem is not always HIDs, the problem is sometimes idiots. Last week I was driving to West Van along the #1, and there is an SUV behind me that's blinding me. I figure, not such a big deal, whatever, once I pull up it won't be so bad. Don't I wish. I take the Taylor way exit, and she pulls up behind me. and it's still ridiculous. Turns out it was a woman in an RDX that had her HID lowbeams and Halogen highbeams on. I pull into the leftmost of the two lanes (the one she wasn't using) and tell her (first by honking to get her attention, then by talking to her once she rolled down her window) that her highbeams are on. Her answer? "No, it's not my highbeams, it's on auto!" I tell her to pull back on the stalk so that the highbeams go off...and then she turns off her lights, turning on her DRLs at which point she says "No, see? That's just the lowbeams! Okay, whatever, THANK YOU!" More than half of the problem is stupidity, not malice. |
New acuras HID's = DRLs. I work there. I see it all the time =p I have A/M HID in reflector housings. NEVER had anyone complain. Then again, I had the common sense to adjust it properly. |

Or maybe you blinded them so that they can't read your plate numbers? :):alonehappy: |

The Acura RDX has DRL's built into the headlamp, and the xenon HID's in the headlamp as well. In the RDX u use the DRL's as highbeams. So both the xenon night time driving lights and the highbeams can be on at the same time. the Acura MDX uses part of the fog lights as DRL's and has the xenon HID's in the headlamp so Graeme S is correct, she had both her nighttime xenons on and her highbeams |

But then again, there are plenty of people who drive around with their high beams on. Night time and Day time. :suspicious: |

i dont see a problem if they retrofit projectors housings into their headlight and aim properly |

You've also got wiring issues to deal with. Has it been done safely? Are the ballasts of good quality? Is the whole system going to shut off on a dark road one day? Are the ballasts going to crap out and cause flickering? Glare and aim aren't the only reasons HID retrofits are illegal. |
