Hybrids = more weight(electric motor+batteries)

and you know what weight does to a sports car.

Some of you guys don't fully understand how a hybrid works. The on board batteries basically charge while you're driving the vehicle. Once the batteries are charged, the electric motor can provide torque assist to help reduce the amount of work from the engine to save fuel. This would be great from city/highway commute.

However, I'm not too sure how you would apply this application on a race track. The electric power would be dissipated so quickly, like the KERS system.

I can't see this working with our current level of tech, not for a racing machine.

Batteries = added weight
Electric motor = added weight
Electric charging system = added weight

Already, you've completely negated any sort of weight savings from removing seats and going with a carbon body.


I think it would work for like a... performance daily driver, so let's say a Lancer or Ralliart. But not on an evo.


There is no performance gain that I can see that's already limited by weight, aerodynamics, and tire friction. I don't see how adding electric motors will help to bring more power to the wheels where the same weight and space could be used on a larger displacement engine.

Comparing the current market to a time when gas was $0.30 a liter and the technology in full electric was a fraction of the present, that's intelligent.

Hybrids are an intermediate between technologies, until battery technology advances further.
