^don't those have a limit to how much cash back you can get?
TD bank has a good travel visa (their top card + points), free if you have 5k in your bank account

mbna +1
check on rfd for a good read on it: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/mbna-...ilable-722828/
a good travel card is capitalone world aspire card.
costs $120 annually, but they give you $100 worth of travel credit every year...so it costs, really $20 per year. plus, they give you an initiation credit of $350 worth of travel credit... so technically you're using the card for 17 years for free, then $20 per year after that
or if you insist on collecting the travel points at half the pace but with no annual fee, they have a capitalone gold aspire too.
just a warning, the call center people at cap1 are kinda dumb and useless 90% of the time. lol..
i remember TD infinity travel is a free card, if you keep a certain value in your checkings account? (not 100% sure)

I might be wrong...but I heard the MBNA card has been discontinued for over a year now.
They still have a wide variety of cards...but the one with 3% cashback has been discontinued. You have to sign up with one of their regular cards, get approval, and then after you receive your card....call into retention to cancel your card + ask to be transferred to the 3% cashback program. Worked for some people, and failed for some people.

Really? I have had the MBNA Smart Card for over a year now. I use it for everything possible and get $50 cheques nearly every month. No annual fee.
5% cash back on gas and groceries for first 6 months, 3% there after
1% on everything else

^note the 3% on gas and groceries is only valid up to first $600..so you max out at $18 per month on the 3% and everything goes to 1% above that

if you travel, pay the annual fee for a credit card as the perks more than make up for it. Every time I travel I make sure to break a rental car.

Yep my gf was so impressed she signed up for this card on the weekend through great canadian rebates. When she is approved she will get $62 (they give you $2 for signing up on the site plus $60 once you get the card).
Be sure to request a cheque in your GCR account.
I hope TD keeps this card going for a while. Love getting $50 cheques.

What are the thoughts on signing up for either of the two American Express Gold cards through Great Canadian Rebate? You get $60~65 back from them.
Then either 15,000 (or 25,000) welcome points, which is enough for a short-haul flight.
No first year annual fee.
Then maybe transfer those points away (to your own frequent flyer program), and cancel the card before 1 years' up?
Or would the record of cancelling the card on your credit history not worth it? Travel that's flexible, no matter the destination. |
