The drift thread: FAQ's and such

This is for all the revscene drifters, searched but nothing came up about drift talk. Anything drift related can go in here.

My question for you drifters is:

Do you guys daily your welded diffs? I have been in the last few days and its brutal and i hate it, slowly getting used to it tho. I've searched other forums, about this matter but i just want to find out what you drifters think.

I dont know if i should just suck it up and rock that shit
or find a DD and save it for the track/weekend.

It's very possible to daily. Don't drive like an idiot when it's wet...tire wear will be faster than usual because the rear is always locked and your rubber bushings will hate you lolol

Daily'ing a drift car is awesome.
if you built it and set it up the way you want it why wouldn't you wanna drive it errryday?
cons are really hard rides and no luxuries and probably a lot more for gas.

people that say daily'ing with a welded diff makes you squirrely all the time are retarded. I daily'd mine and still had to try to break loose if I wanted to get sideways even in the rain. launches are better, exit speeds are faster and traction is twice as good.

it

Thanks for the input guys. I don't drive like a fucking douche, as people tend to stare at my POS. Ugh, but i just hate how the car feels, SO not used to it.

Bought a hella abused drift slut recently and the previous owner daily'd it told me it was fine. Just hate the way it handles, loud, runs super rich, smells like gas in the cabin, bumpy, noisy and chrips every turn i make.

Maybe I'll get more used to the car in few more days and learn how the car reacts.

I'm daily driving my 240, it's caged has a racing seat and a harness with a welded diff, it sucks if you just wanna go from point "a" to "b". crawling over the cage and getting in and out of the seat is not something I would prefer to do every morning at 6am.

but to every downside there is an upside, doing alittle clutch kick on an empty street always puts a smile on my face. Knowing that you can stop in any industrial place or big parking lot on the way home to get abit of practice in to relax and forget the day is definitely worth it.

all personal preference, drive smart and you'll be fine.

^ What did you get?

If your DD'ing a drift car than you shouldn't own one. Best thing is to get a reliable, clean daily driver FIRST, then pursue your project car. Its easy to drive it all the time, weekends, errands etc. It will prolong the life of the parts on your car as well.

I wouldn't have it as my primary driver, but I would use it. If I lived in anywhere outside lower mainland then it wouldn't be a big deal, but traffic and city commuting kills cars.

I had a s13 coupe with all the blah + welded diff and it was fun as hell, but super lame for commuting. I'm 26 though and have a job I like, so being tempted to hoon drive on my way to work and run the risk of being pulled over and having my licence suspended on the spot would not make the best impression on my boss.

Me to boss "Yea, I am going to be late. Just lost my licence and had my car towed. But don't worry I am a super mature and responsible and will get my GF to drive me to the impound lot tomorrow to get the car, and take a cab to get my licence back from the police station. Can you not tell any of the other guys though because I will be ridiculed for weeks."

I hate even sounding like I am, but just speaking from past events.
