^ personally I think real world fuel economy has more to do with the weight of the vehicle than the size of the engine. For example, my RDX has a 2.3l 4 banger with a turbo, but weighs 4100lbs.

RDX 4100lbs 2.3L turbo 60L fuel = 330kms
M5 4100lbs 5.0L V10 60L fuel = 220kms
Pcar GT3 3000lbs 3.6L flat6 60L fuel = 360kms. I drive this car the hardest and gets the best gas mileage!!! I never shift below 4k kms......

I drove to California down the I5 and up the 101 and averaged 26mpg the entire trip - including driving around San Francisco, all the twisties up the coast, and daily driving for food etc. 29mpg was the average on the I5 only because of driving 85mph which requires 2300rpm or so lol. Lots of guys on the Vette boards have recorded over 30mpg on trips.

Didn't top gear do a segment with an M3 following a Smart Car around a track, the smart car going flat out and the M3 pacing it, and the M3 smoked it for fuel economy. Similar principles.

My commuter is a Tuscon and it costs me way more on gas with its V6 and shit bag torque that down shifts and revs to 5k to go up hills on the highway.

Here's the segment, and it's actually a M3 vs a Toyota Prius

z3guy, I have a 5.7L trans am with manual and had a 5.7L camaro with auto, and both of them were better on gas than my 2.5L turbo skyline, 2.5L turbo legacy, 3.0L v6 300zx, and pretty damn close to the 240sx.

Both the camaro and the trans am gets driven not hard but not light either and both of them i average about 13L/100km give or take .5L city. on the highway the previous owner of the camaro drove it to calgary and average 650km to 55L on the highway.

How did this turn into a discussion about fuel economy?!

Don't the people who normally buy cars like these NOT care about the fuel economy and only care about the smiles per gallon? (Since they should have another car to DD)

asahai69 11-03-2011 11:32 PM

i love having a car with torque. engine dosent need to rev to 5k to make power.

Over9K 11-03-2011 11:33 PM

More available torque + less throttle input= Good MPG's.

I love torque too, but decent torque with awesome revs is even better! if you want hp, your car better rev more than 5K.

That can't be normal, even for an M5 V10.
I know it's not the same, but even my M5 4.9L V8 gets 4-415kms on 70L, normal daily driving.

Z3guy 11-04-2011 09:20 AM

^ dude,go on M5 board to see if it is normal......

tell me how that has anything to do with the cars mentioned being good bang for the buck? we're talking about good performing cars for a good price, not good performing for people with little to none racing experience.

yes, actually. hell, my c6 doesn't seem much worse than the tsx i'm driving.

ShaneN 11-05-2011 03:19 PM

this car is stock. can be bought for ~90k. not saying it's the holy grail, but a good contender in a category of good bang for buck cars. 110 kph by end of first gear? yes please.

Over9K 11-05-2011 04:38 PM

Look at that oil pressure gauge.

Damn.

Why a C6Z06 is in my plans for next spring. :alonehappy:

Tired of playing around with 4cyl turbo's.

I'm on there everyday, albeit, in the e39 section.

I just checked the e60s.. you're still getting horrible milage. Most people reported 2-250 Miles, with the lowest I found being 160 miles (250+ kms), and a few even reporting being in the 300s.

Z3guy 11-07-2011 10:03 AM

^ dude get a life, you worry about your car, I will worry about mine.

New Viper:
Kind of looks like a Maserati G/T had a kid with a Fisker Karma

Here's the basics: SRT is working with the same interior suppliers from Ferrari and Maserati. The frame has been entirely redone. Hardened steel. 50% stiffer than 2010 Viper. An 8.4-liter V10 engine, 28 lbs. lighter than the 2010 Viper rated at 640 HP & 600lb ft torque - the most torque of any naturally aspirated sports car engine in the world
More info available here: 2013 SRT Viper: The Snake Is Back!

-Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission has been improved with a shorter throw shifter, closer gear ratios
-All 2013 Viper models will come with a steering-wheel-mounted launch control switch, allowing for optimal acceleration from standing starts.

These wheel renders look nice

front end looks too european...lost that muscular american look
but this sounds really good...hope they'll release an ACR version eventually

skyxx 04-04-2012 06:21 PM

^It's because they got input from Ferrari/Maserati. ;) The Interior is killer!

CorneringArtist 04-04-2012 06:25 PM

I wonder if a few Alfa Romeo designers were in on this. I see a small bit of influence from the 8C.

Whenever I see a Viper, it reminds the face of a guy with a RT10 I met at Richmond gas station.

Me: Nice car
RT10 owner: Thx
Another dude: nice, MPG must be *great* on that 8L engine :troll:
RT10 owner: What's MPG? :fuckthatshit:
Another dude: :okay:
Me: :joy:
