Just cause its covered by insurance doesn't mean you get free reign of where and how it is fixed, even in a fully private insurance system.

That's why i want this done right so i can tell the owner that the engine has been replaced at an Acura dealership. | Regardless of the reason or shop you're going to take a hit if you disclose it - no-one wants a car that has been in an accident, even if the repair looks perfect. If you're not required to, and the car is running fine, then don't.

Never knew it was covered under ICBC, I hydrolocked my 3G TL on Marine Drive few years back. It's lowered with a CAI, plus it's supercharged so it probably made it a lot worse.
Just ended up swapping in a 3.5L motor instead.

I always thought the CAI will void coverage for engine failure because it is his fault for modifying an intake to have an increased % to suck in water?

ICBC will probably bring that up and the fact that it's a lowered car making it more susceptible.
If you lose your case and icbc says it's your fault I don't recommend going through a dealership to do your swap... I don't even want to begin to know what that would cost.

That ICBC adjuster actually called me, here at Acura I tried to discuss with him that our labor rate is $120 per hour here. Unfortunately with claims I cannot readjust the labor rates.
The adjuster was firm with only paying $55-$90 per hour with different parts of the repair. I would've loved to help you and of course its buisness on our end for sure but ICBC was very firm on only paying us the rates mentioned.

You keep saying that this is not your fault. I'm guessing there is more behind the story than "driving through a huge puddle" that we are all assuming. Mind sharing?

I don't want them coming back to me saying that i tampered with the car before it went to ICBC.
Wish me luck. Adjuster is on vacation so i don't know how the case is going so far. | Sounds like you were involved in an accident and the hydro locking was a result of that collision.

He said he drove through the "lake" (puddle) on canada way.... which I would go ahead and say i was his fault then because he chose to put the CAI on, and without it this wouldn't have happened......

That's why it was my first choice, but i understand that the rate was too low.

Thanks everyone. I found a place and that was what this thread was about.
Thanks for all the help.

i call BS, it always depends on the accident. A newer model acura that has had an engine swap because of hydro locking? That's not going to stop me from buying it. All I got to do is take it to a shop and get them to give me the OK for it being mechanically sound and I'd take it.
