| android battery question?
my nexus s battery widget shows 94% at full charge after 24hr charger plugged in.
Is the battery broken ? How to fix or reset..?

its not the batterys problem, its your phone's software. its not really a problem to be honest. my ipod touch says 100% fully charged when plugged in, then the moment i unplug it, it will say 94% too.

It has to do with not overcharging your battery that will decrease its life/damage its charge.
Perfectly normal as mine only charges to 95%. If you want to it charge up more, you can unlock it and it should charge a few more percent but I have never seen it go anywhere above 97% for me.
Regardless, its for the reason I listed above and has to do with the battery type.

The phone is protecting the battery like crs says. It charges up to 100% and stays there for a few hours. It will then allow it to discharge a few % and then charge up again. It just depends where in the cycle you unplugged the battery. Although the difference between keeping it maxed out or performing the cycle is minimal. My HTC used to do that until someone changed the firmware to do otherwise. My SGS2 doesn't do this and remains at 100%
Mind you if it used to charge to 100% and no longer does its probably a battery calibration issue. Which can be fixed easily.

How do u recalibrate ? Should I drain battery til empty and recharge? Posted via RS Mobile | |

If it's rooted, discharge until empty, recharge, then delete the battery cache in Recovery Mode

It's under advanced in CWM Recovery. Called Wipe Battery Stats. You probably want to bump charge it before wiping the stats. ie. Charge all the way up to green light. Turn phone off re-charge again to green light. Restart the phone charge again to green light. Then wipe the stats.

from what i hear even when iphones show 100% charged they may only be at 95-97% to prolong the Li-ion battery life

I have vanilla 2.36. So I dont see the wipe battery status on mine. Anyways, Not a biggie, I can live with 94% batter .

If you have root access you can simply delete the battery stats file. Unfortunately I don't remember where or exactly what file it is.
