| need help getting outta contract...
wut up everyone...so heres the story.kind of a long one but here goes it.
right now im with rogers under a $50 student plan. i have been their customer for almost 4 years. last september i resigned the contract inorder to get a new berry and better contract cuz i wanted data. only thing is the contract is under my dads name and still is and i am only a "person of contact." not actually knowing i went into a store and resigned the contract. the staff looked at my student id and MY government id and i resigned my dads contract. not sure what Roger's resigning policy is regarding who gets to resign but the store manager that i resigned at claims i was changed from a person of contact to an authorizing person days before my resigning and then changed back to person of contact.
i know that is BS cuz a) my dad would never do that and b) i wouldnt do it cuz i thought i was a person of authority anyways. so now i want out cuz i need to lower my costs per month and i have a plan with mobilicity which is perfect for me.
the ass kicker though is that i still am stick with rogers with a $72 a month plan i asked a CSR at rogers if there were any changes in authority anytime when i was a customer and she said no.my theory is the district manager (the guy my dad talked to about our situation) doesnt want to admit his crew screwed up by letting me resign and gave us bogus info so we would screw off basically.
i tried transferring my phone but ended up getting my iphone jacked.at this point im choked. basically my question and only options are to cancel which is $500 + tax (23months remaining) or i came up with voice recording 10 different CSR agents at rogers telling me there were no changes to authority, trying to get print outs at stores of account changes and take all this info and lay out for the district manager. i have no money nor plans of making this a legal case. i just want to get out of this contract and not pay the cancellation fees. any thoughts or details that i may have overlooked? any help or advice or opinions would go a long ways.thanks.

here is an obvious solution
ask your dad to call in?

Thanks for the responses.my dad knows about the situation regarding me resigning without him.I guess I was lookingfor some opinions in my plan to record convos With rogers CSR and taking that "evidence" to the manager and trying get my contract cancelled Considering it is not a legitimate contract(in my opinion) cuz I signed a contract that wasn't ever mine... what do you have to lose?
Record the call , get csr phone rep to add in account comments and send you an email including the Interaction# , go into the store get paper evidence.
call district manager lay it out.

Can I ask u a question
are u an authorized user on the account
becuz if you are, then you are basically screwed becuz the authorized user has the authority to resign
Your so called "person of contact" might be the authorized user ALREADY, meaning you've had authorization for 4 years.
I suggest u walk into a rogers store and ask someone to look up your account to see if ur name shows up as an authorized user
I'll be honest though, this is going to be a tough one to squeeze out of.

nope im not an authorized person never have been. my dad has called in and asked. i also tried adding value packs etc. and used my name as login or whatever and they wouldnt let me cuz im not "authorized".
it really pisses me off wen companies do this. to gain a sale or whatever they bend the rules but at times when u need them to bend the rules for you to help you out you get your ass handed to you...

You're just as at fault as the rogers for signing the contract not knowing it didn't belong to you. Ignorance is not an excuse.

just call into CSR and ask them about changes made in the past
record the convo and ASK FOR A REFERENCE NUMBER
But i'll say this, why did u resign in the first place knowing well ahead of time u were not the authorized user then.
U should have a look at the copy of the contract. It will show all the information at the time

this is the sort of thing i hear all the time in the past.
Although I get more ppl complaining that the authorized user signed the contract and not the account holder.
Well too bad
Truth is, ur kinda stuck. if you have 24months remaining, why not try to transfer the contract to someone else

Taking on this contract would be ludicrous as there is realistically NOTHING for the new user.

just to put it out there...i do realize i screwed up too for assuming i was authorized when i wasnt.but then again i wouldnt ever have found cuz rogers seemed to overlook it wen it came to resign and then when we asked about it the manager bs's us.if i had extra $600 i would pay cancellation fees just to not have to deal with this stuff.
i guess i could buy another new/used phone and try to transfer again...

regardless
I believe I see holes in this story
If u caught on a month into your new contract, you could still have it reversed
but since u say there were 24months left, I see holes in the story
