can i use bell's unlocked phone on moblicity?

i am selling htc to someone and would like to know if they can use on wind/moblicity. thanks

b0unce. [?] 11-11-2011 01:56 PM

look up the frequency that mobility/wind uses. most phones actually can't run off mobility/wind
i believe mobility/wind share the same frequency as t-mobile or something like that in the states as well. so do some research on the phone model you're selling and check up with mobility/wind shit

Would you sell your used condom to a friend and see if I'll work? thanks

SupraTTturbo2jz 11-11-2011 01:57 PM

As far as the consumer is concerned, Wind uses 1700MHz. All UMTS bands use a different range of frequencies for upload an download transmission but in the case of AWS, saying "1700/2100" doesn't help anyone brecause it just adds to the confusion. When a phone manufacturer advertises 2100MHz, they are only talking about UMTS Band I which is not necessary for use with Mobilicity's network. When AWS (UMTS Band IV) is stated as a number, it should only be refereed to as 1700MHz. It should NEVER be called 1700/2100. When a phone manufactuer advertises UMTS/3G 1700MHz, they are refering to UMTS Band IV and that automatically has both necessary upstream and downstream frequency ranges included in the specification. Mobilicity users would be much better off if they pretended the 2100MHz part of the AWS specification didn't exist because it does the end user no good to have that piece of information. It actually does more harm.

I'm getting conflicting answers from what I consider to be two "official" sources:

1) The official HTC page for the Sensation 4G [ HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Sensation ]
Network
HSPA+/GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz

2) The official box for the phone, sixth picture here [ T-Mobile Branded HTC Sensation 4G In The Wild! ]
GSM: 850,900,1800,1900 UMTS: 1700,2100,1900

I had bought the phone in the US specifically so that I could use it overseas on their 3G standard - UMTS 2100. Can someone tell me which source is inaccurate?
here you go
i didn't realize how hard it is to use the internet.

SupraTTturbo2jz 11-11-2011 02:06 PM

liol, didnt know that was a actual link and not a trolling link =D

LenovoTurbo 11-11-2011 02:07 PM

Bell uses UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ @ 850/1900.
LTE technology AWS @ 1700.

Mobilicity uses AWS @ 1700/2100.

So no, I don't think it would work.

On another kind of similar note..

Does anyone know the data/text messaging protocols for Bell or Telus?

With Rogers Data and text are Canada wide.
ie. a Vancouver number 604.555.1234 when in Toronto will be able to use data and text without incurring any LD fee's. So the 604 number can text Toronto numbers, Vancouver numbers, etc with no fee's.

Does this apply to Telus and Bell?

Teh Doucher 11-11-2011 02:14 PM

Wtf is wrong with you guys?

No, it will not work.

mmmk 11-11-2011 02:48 PM

You're right.
You will only get EDGE. Definitely no 3G or HSPA+
