Anyone ever heard of Cash For Cars BC?

Hi guys

Has anyone ever heard anything (good or bad) about Cash for Cars BC? Home

Can't find any reviews online about them, except 1 from 3 years ago.

Thanks :)

I remember that. You turned in your car/clunker and ICBC would give you bus passes or something like that

Using a proxy to get a domain name and having no physical address screams scam to me.

The program ICBC was associated with was called Scrap-it.

BC SCRAP-IT Program

They won't give you what your car is worth. They're like pawn shops - looking to take advantage of people who need quick money. They also plan to either wholesale your car or sell it themselves, and do it for a profit, so obviously they're going to pay less than what you could get in a private sale.

Scrap-It was pretty good. Bout a year ago they had an incentive choice of $1200 off a new bike, and a year of bus passes.

Now its not as much, but kinda still good if you have a beater you wanna get rid of.

Thanks for your input everyone. Definitely not looking to replace it with another car... just wondering if there are alternate ways to sell it if we have trouble finding a buyer. :)

Because it's not a point that needs to be made.

I don't know why companies think doing shit like this is a good idea... It's obvious as hell.

Um...what?

Someone asked a question and this guy finally decided to register and give an answer. Yeah dude, he used them, and they are legit. He even used an exclamation mark. Meaning he's excited about the company.

What are you on about?

a while back, my dad bought a new car, and for my birthday gave me the 1200$ from his old 91 grand am POS, for a new bike when I was into biking that car died 3 times on the way there and knocked like hell but they happily took it and we got our money quickly

but for a car in reasonable condition it would be a better thing to do and idea IMO to sell it to someone who might repair or use it still instead of it just being crushed

I'm not sure if anything has changed but it was awesome for us

I just called three different numbers, with three different websites, to see what I would be offered for my venerable but no longer on the road 1999 Acura EL 1.6. The first person offered me $150. The second call said immediately "$100" as soon as I said the make. I asked the guy if he was the SAME GUY I just spoke to, because his voice and speech mannerisms were EXACTLY THE SAME. Of course the answer was "NO!" The third call produced YET ANOTHER identical voice, with a rather similar low-ball number, $160. This had to be BS.

So my next search produced this forum, and the link to the BC Scrap-it Program. It's still working, and the options are great.
  • Up to $1200 credit towards a new vehicle, depending upon the difference in carbon footprint between scrap and new vehicle,
  • An 8-month 3-zone transit pass,
  • $400 credit towards a new bicycle,
  • West Coast Express credit, depending upon where in their area you live,
  • $650 Car-2-Go credits,
  • $550 for one of the other car co-ops,
  • $550 credit with the Jack Bell Ride Share program,
  • or $200 cash.
Even the latter is better than what I was offered. And given my telephone experience, the obvious sock puppetry above should be expected. Power to the db if he can get away with it, but he's clearly getting 10¢ to the $ on the tow aways.

Reading comprehension issues...? He's advocating for SCRAP IT BC, not that scam site.
