At my work the number of Android phones now outnumber iPhones, and I haven't seen a Blackberry in a long time.

You work for a tech firm so of course, people who are technologically savvy will go with a Droid. Most of my friends/associates are business people, analysts of some sort, or service sector people.

The Kindle Fire is targeted to those who want to buy their content from Amazon. It runs a modified version of Gingerbread 2.3 and out of the box, it does not have access to the Android Market. It of course has less features too like less RAM, no HDMI output, 8 GB of onboard storage, no hard volume/media player controls, etc.

I suppose you could buy one and wipe the OS and install your own version of Android. But, you might as well buy another 7" tablet with true Android support such as the HTC or Acer.

Yeah there was one on Groupon as well. It looks like trash. If you had a super tight budget, then sure. But if you could shell out another $100 you are getting better specs, quality, and service.

Sounds like most are just getting one because its cheap. IMO without a blackberry phone, the Playbook is pretty much useless. It works awesome as a extention of your blackberry phone.
