Hey guys I think I've narrowed it down to a few cars. I'm going to be sticking to getting a new car, I kind of just want the peace of mind. It's about 3-5k over 3 years which isn't that bad for the cars I've been looking at.

I've test driven a Hyundai Elantra and a Honda Civic and I want either of these cars.

2011 Elantra GL
2012 Elantra GL

2012 Honda Civic LX

Base price for all the cars is around $18000 MSRP.

Kind of torn as to which one to go with. If I go with the 2011 I might be able to get a pretty good deal since it's a year older.

Mileage on the Elantras seem to be a bit beter in real world sitatuions. But I've liked the look and feel of the Honda Civics. The Elantra doesn't look to much different though.

Also, it seems as though Civics (well any hondas) seem to get a lot more member support when trouble or mods need to be done which could be a really big help for me in the future. I'm not too sure what I want to do with the car but I'd definelty want to learn more about cars in general and change stuff about the car. Not at the very moment as I'd want it to be more of a DD to get me from Vancouver to Port Moody every day..

I'd go with the Elantra. Its better value imo.

The new civics are just okay. Interior is a sea of plastic, it makes the same power as the older model, exterior looks the same as previous gen, has worse mpg, and it doesn't have as much technology as the Elantra. The civic is a "safe" choice and it is a good car but not as good as the Elantra.

One question you should ask yourself: What will my resale value be in 5 years?

I think there's a program with Hyundai that'll guarantee the trade in value over the next few years.

I think I'm going to go get the Hyundai. The more I think about it, the more I think that the Hyundai is worth it.

Quick question about financing, I didn't really ask the dealer ship but if it says that it's 2.9% financing for X months, is that interest rate added again every year?

Or is it just price of the car and the interest rate added then that's split between the 80 months?

What do you guys think about a 2011 or 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer? It's not too bad in the fuel efficiency, about .8-1.5L/100km more but it looks to be a sexier looking car in comparison to the Hyundai or the Honda.

The interior feels a lot better too compared to either of the Hyundai or the Honda (cheap/plasticy).

Really want to make up my mind but don't really want to pull the trigger with something I'd regret I should've just went for the Elantra instead of continuing to look around lol.
