buying a blackberry phone - please advise

I am not familiar with blackberry model.
but I am looking for a best bang for the buck

I am thinking to get a brand new or LIKE new from craigslist...
but open to any sugestion.

Budget $50 - $150

I have seen Bold 9700 or Curve 9300 in craigslist - which one is better
any other model worth looking

main use of the phone is BBM and little browsing to google some info.

You can get a 9780 which will be better than both of them.
White Blackberry Bold 9780 Smartphone
BELL WHITE BLACKBERRY BOLD 9780
Blackberry Bold 9780

It's only a little more than your budget but it will run a little better.

Of the 9700 and the 9300, the 9700 has a better keyboard, screen resolution, and camera.

if all you want to do is bbm and light browsing - a curve 8310 will do as well.
it depends how complex you want to get with bbm. i think the new version has some sort of code scanner.

best bet is to go to RIM website and compare features.

If you decide for a curve 8310 - I have one from work I can sell for $75. I'll have a 9700 for sale in a couple of weeks if work tells me I can have it - we switched to IPHONE

It's a safe bet that the Curve's electronics were redesigned to optimize for cost. Ie slightly lesser reception, performance, audio quality, etc. Whether in practice you'd notice the difference, I don't know. Take a quick look on Crackberry forums - if there were major issues, they would've shown up there.

You'll only be able to tell when the phone starts up and the bottom piece below the keyboard. You can use any sim card from robellus and their discount brands after it is unlocked. If you buy a Wind/Mobilicity one then you will only be able to use 2G on Rogers/Fido/Chat-R, but you would not be able to use it on Bell/Telus at all.

Only Rogers and its brands have 2G. Telus/Bell and their brands use 3G only.
Also, all GSM BlackBerry phones have the 2G bands 850/900/1800/1900.

From what I remember, the bell units don't have the branding on the outside of the phone.
