don't fill out the accident report, or sign anything either. talk to a lawyer straight off the bat. they will tell you what you do or do not need to tell icbc.

fuck that,
id give any money if i can be back to my normal self before my accident.
you try waking up in the middle of the night because your back aches so much.
you try waking up in the morning, and sitting by the bedside doing stretches for 10-15mins just to get on with your day.
you try arranging your schedule so you can go to chiro at 7 in the morning, then physio at 6:30 at night.
you try not being able to go watch a movie because you cant sit still or properly or comfortably for a 2hr movie.
you try not being able to do regular activities and sports in general because you fear more damage and injury.
then all the damn meetings with icbc, doctors, med examiners, insurance, extended health. Quote:

Yea... The money is not worth it. I had an accident lasr September and had been in and out the doctors and physio office for 9 months. Finally accepted settlement as it seems like treatments are not helping to get that 10% back to 100%.
Now I my elbow joints crack, left knee crack, and can't study/work/focus without my neck hurting every 2-3 hours. Before that, I could study for 12 hours straight without any problems. Car accident injuries are no fun. Posted via RS Mobile |

I hear you man!
Living with a permanent injury has an unimaginable impact on ones life, anyone who isn't going through it, could never understand.
Fuck the icbc lottery, people who think an accident is an opportunity at a financial windfall. I would pay anything to not constantly feel broken again.. Quote:

a way to recover from your injuries is to adopt a healthier "fit" lifestyle. exercising regularly really helps with recovery and helps you fight off any long term effects of the injury.

Hope you get better man.
Death_Blossom is right though, exercising once you start recovery will help strengthen and hopefully keep the pain away. Even going as far as Yoga to keep your joints loose.

I've got a permanent left shoulder injury from a car accident a few years back. I never went after ICBC for injury compensation because, frankly, at the time I didn't think it was going to be a big issue. I still don't think it's an issue that I never got any money. However, what I do wish I had done was proper treatment for it. Stretches, physio, yoga, anything to get the muscle back into shape. I can't even sleep on my left side anymore. Legit injury claims can be a giant bitch, both time and money wise. The mom of one my best friends was in a major car accident about five years ago. She got rear ended while at a stop sign by someone going full speed. Guy was drunk, but managed to run away and evade cops for long enough that they couldn't prove he was drunk at the time (he was never charged with a DUI). She's been in constant pain since then. She wears neck braces, has graduated morphine patches for sleep, and has about $20,000 worth of various medications in her bathroom for all the problems she's going through. She's been to about a dozen specialists, she's had all the required visits by ICBC's own people, and they're still screwing around with her. They stopped paying her about a year ago and told her that they're going to court, though a year and a half later, that still hasn't happened.
Sorry, I think I went on an off topic tangent here. lol. Just pisses me off that people can claim soft tissue injuries even when they have nothing and get a few thousand dollars. Yet someone who is literally living day to day in genuine, massive pain from a car accident has yet to receive any form of compensation.
ICBC scammers? Fuck you.
Good luck on your recovery!

^soft tissue claims are capped at around 5k, and are by no means a ton of $. If you are actually injured, that really isn't a whole lot for life-long therapy. I would take my health back any day. Some problems may not surface till later, you never know.
However, the claim for your best friends mom is probably at least 70-100k? maybe even a lot more. Pretty standard for ICBC to be playing these games.

Injuries weren't as bad as Lomac's friend's mom, but the accident was the same. The driver was found to be drunk and was charged with DUI, though.

Yeah, it's at least that much. She had a self employed business as a costume designer for the movie industry worth a fair bit of money. Considering she barely has the ability to type on a keyboard, she's no longer able to sew and create costumes.
Even so, though. I guess it's just frustrating seeing her both in pain and having it take so long to go through the courts.
Either way, car accidents suck.
