BB cannot tether to iphone because of some restrictions. To unlock the restrictions, you need to buy an app.
Believe me, I tried to tether my friend's old iphone 3gs to my old 9700, it did not work completely, so I searched on google for a hour or two.
The app is called iBluever from Cydia app store on Iphones. I never personally tried it, but based on other people's reviews, it looks like it works like a charm. It's not free, but it's a must-have if you want to tether your bb to ipods, iphones, or even ipads
