Mein auto isn't German or even european, all the JDM adapters I've found are big clunky things .

1. Cut a little piece of 1/4" plywood the height of your plate and little wider than the holes in the bumper.
2. Drill holes to match the bumper.
3. Attach plywood to bumper like you would with a Euro or JDM plate.
4. Screw NA plate to plywood.
5. ????
6. PROFIT.
All the fucking effort you have to go through to import a JDM car, is it really that big a deal to mount your plate to it? It's better to whine and cry about the size and shape of our plates, which accomplishes nothing except to make you look like a little bitch? I guess if such a simple and obvious solution escapes you...

Yes because using wood on a car sounds like a brilliant idea. All I'm saying is that the JDM brackets I've found are big clunky pieces of crap. I know they don't have to be that way, but that's all I've found. I'm not complaining about our plates or that I have to mount them, but if it ends up sticking out too far on the back it'll be past the license plate lights which I'm pretty sure is also illegal.
Also my car was already imported, so I put zero effort into getting it here (and I saved a bundle since buddy knew nothing about cars) but thanks for your assumptions.

Are we allowed to modify BC plates to fit the Japanese spec mounts or should I go to my friendly local Datsun dealer to get an adapter?
(shameless licence plate brag)

Seems legit. Quote:

Soundy you're being fucking retarded. Mount a piece of plexi glass? A piece of plywood?
Quit being stubborn, who the fuck would attach a piece of 1/4 plywood to the front of their car, when they could easily just drill two tiny 1/2" holes and mount the plate exactly as ancient_510 has.
THAT IS THE LOGICAL THING TO DO HERE. Anyone who gives someone grief over drilling two tiny little holes 1" away from the existing ones is on a complete power trip.

Anyone who gives someone grief over drilling two tiny little holes 1" away from the existing ones is on a complete power trip. | I'm not the one being stubborn, I'm suggesting alternatives to those who insist on having a problem coping with the different designs. If you're opposed to drilling the plate OR the bumper, what's so hard about building an adapter plate out of whatever convenient material you have to work with? Wood, plastic, metal, who gives a fuck?

I'd just ram 2 self tapping screws into the body of the car or bumper or wherever there putting these things.

From what I've seen, the cars where the screw holes are too far apart for the holes on the license plate usually have a license plate holder/adapter that goes over that. You see those on cars where there is a black plastic rectangular bracket for you to mount your license plate on.
So, there really shouldn't be any reason to have to drill holes in your plate. If you really want to put it up against your bumper without the bracket, then just use self tapping screws like the guy above said. If it's that important to you not to have a bracket or adapter to mount your plate then that would be the cleanest looking way as you won't have two extra holes showing on your plate.

Instead of cutting your plates what about getting one of those vinyls made of your plate and stick it somewhere on your car. I've seen those around in the UK and on some cars here like a BMW at the WCC meet last year. I'm pretty sure they're illegal but I think if you would get a ticket it would be for no front plate instead of cutting the plate. Might be something to think about.
