| Samsung Galaxy SII LTE (Rogers/Bell)
I've been debating whether or not to make a thread for this version of the SGS2. The other thread is really hard to follow because it's not clear which SGS2 is being discussed, the 4.3" or 4.5". With buttons being different on each phone, rooting and mods appear to be different procedures as well. Therefore, this thread is for all topics in regards to the SGS2 LTE 4.5" currently offered by Rogers.
I'm looking for recommendations for a case and screen protector. I don't believe that any cell phone and accessory stand in a mall will have a case and/or screen protector for this phone, since it's still relatively new. Does anyone know of any sites or stores to visit? Will Telus' SGS2 accessories fit a Rogers SGS2 LTE?
edit: thinking of getting this, http://www.case-mate.com/Samsung-Gal...here-Cases.asp , and the Universal Screen Protector. edit: DO NOT buy this, it won't fit the LTE version of the SGS2.

all accessories for the Telus/T-Mobile/Rogers Versions are the SAME. the only difference is the Radio frequencies or the Rogers LTE.
cases cables screen protectors = all same. i got all my crap from eBay, Dealextreme etc.
NOTE: the case you linked is for the Bell version, a completely different phone.
you need this: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/protect...nt-white-93678
note camera shape.
EDIT: weird, i just noticed this image is kinda wrong too. camera hole is Rounded, the Hercules is actually square-ish.

So long as I get an accessory for a Telus, T-Mobile, or Rogers SGS2, I should be able to use it with my 4.5" SGS2? The reason I ask is because I think I remember reading that there are variations of the SGS2 that are different shapes, eg: rounder corners.
BTW, the case you linked to says "Designed for Samsung SGH T989". The model of the phone I have is SGH i727.
edit: upon further research, it looks like the model SGH T989 is T-Mobile's version of the SGS2 LTE, which is also 4.5". Unless I'm mistaken, the difference between the T-Mobile and Rogers' variants is model #, and physically they are the same..?

externally, they are all the same. th e only difference is the radio frequency, and Branding name. Mins says T-Mobile. dunno what the others say.
BTW dont try to flash a T-Mobile ROM onto your LTE phone
Telus yes, Rogers, NO.

Question about plans:
Did you guys have to get an LTE data plan before they would subsidize this phone (I'm hoping to get this phone with a regular voice & data plan)?

Having an LTE plan was not a prerequisite to getting this phone.

I am trying to decide between the Galaxy S2 LTE and the upcoming Galaxy Nexus. The S2 LTE will have better data performance, but the Nexus has a better screen. I wonder which will have the better battery life.

I value my battery life during the day too much. Besides, I've got an ipad for that

CPU is not faster on the LTE galaxy s2, the vanilla SG2 has a faster CPU even tho it has less clock speeds it is the superior chip, and I prefer the button layout on the LTE.
I have a Rogers Samsung galaxy S2 LTE, its running t-mobile beastmod 4.0 rom (so fucking smooth) and I get LTE speeds upwards of 44mbps.
I have flashed many roms and prefer the beastmod, also if anyone has any questions ask me since I have had the phone since day one and fucked around with it quite a bit.. I also have a SGP case for it, with a realook screen protector.. I got a diztronic case coming in the mail and might sell of my SGP case. But, the SGP case is a perfect fit, I just want a semi transparent case to show off the CF I added to the back battery panel.
Yes, the Galaxy Nexus has a higher resolution panel, but it is also features a PenTile panel (which have lesser color rendition, reduced sharpness, and lower sub-pixel density) which is not as good as the galaxy S2 LTE that uses a different type of panel.. Also remember, to drive all those extra pixels requires more cpu power = more battery usage.. Im happy with my phone, no regrets. Its OC'd to 1.78ghz and flys
*edit* the Tmobile phone has the rear speaker on the opposite side so do not buy a Tmobile case!! Also refer to skyrocket sgh-727 forums on xda developers for development, cases, themes,etc...

Anyone have a recommendation for a CLEAR screen protector? these phones have amazing screens but the casemate anti-fingerprint protector I am using now makes everything look very grainy.
Also for those that are interested I don't recommend the Casemate brushed aluminum backing case. I went 1 week without a case, 1 week with the brushed aluminum case and 1 week with the plastic barely there case. The brushed aluminum case had a significant decrease in signal strength (2 sometimes 3 bars) compared to running no case or just the plastic case. I assumed this must have something to do with the thin aluminum at the back of the case.

calling rogers when I return from LA, to get an LTE plan, really don't want to lose my retention. If I get an LTE plan I'll probably use it to stream.

got s2 LTE last week
Battery doesn't even last a day?
reviews seems to say 8hours of normal use, but more like half of that on mine!
I'm not on LTE plan
my last phone has 3GS, easily lasted 2 days without charging.
I'm not youtwitfacebooking all day, not watching movies or listening to music
LTE battery life is horrible!

I bought 3 knock off batteries + charger on ebay for $10.. each battery lasts a good while too.. id say 75% the life of original battery.. I keep those babies charged and bring them with me.
