this guy pretty much described what i have atm
fucking nasty
went to the doctors got some meds and cream, going to get it examined this saturday
hopefully i won't need surgery for it
im thinking of keeping up with 3x squatting along with 3x benching a week. I wanna try to get a 500 now lol.
i was thinking of giving 5/3/1 another shot, but i just feel there isnt enough working set volume
Hehe yeah, it would be hard to go to 5/3/1 after smolov. The only way I could do it is the boring but big template, that way you're at least squatting 2x a week.
Like Sid said, sheiko is perfect! 3x a week so you don't get squat withdrawal but lower intensity than smolov so you don't burn out in the long run.
Well, went to see a doc today and my worst fears were true - far lateral disc herniation between L4 and L5... Looks like I am out at least till May (so the doc says). This is a preliminary diagnostic as I yet have to get an x-ray/MRI done...
Honestly, this blows. I was making steady progress, completed Smolov and two weeks of Sheiko 37 and everything was fine, but decided to sit on a rock at the beach and enjoy the sun/read and got a disc herniation?
Here is my plan of attack for the next month:
- Reduce my weight as much as I can (I hate doing this, but I am going to reduce my carbs significantly, especially since I'm barely active at the moment)
- Start doing rehab TODAY!
- Once I feel like I can get back into the gym, I'll start Madcow 5x5 and go back to the basics trying to build my strength back up.
Question for you fellas, if I am going to cut down on carbs, should I aim for staying under 50 grams per day? Is that correct?
aw shit just spent 4hrs in the hospital with a needle stuck in my arm for 1.5hrs
going back tmmr to get a ultrasound to see if i need surgery
looks like i wont be lifting for a long time
off wiki:
An acquired umbilical hernia directly results from increased intra-abdominal pressure caused by obesity, heavy lifting, a long history of coughing, or multiple pregnancies.[2]

Wish you a fast recovery jc! I know of a few people who had this happen to them. They did make a full recovery and were back to lifting heavy. Stay positive!
