Early morning today catching a flight over to Ottawa. Slept most of the way but decided to hit the gym when I got here. Started out with 30mins on the elliptical and then out of no where destroyed my best DB shoulder press record. Best before was 60 x 5. This is what I did today.

35 x 6
40 x 6
45 x 6
50 x 6
55 x 6
60 x 6
65x 6
70 x 6
70 x 2

I don't know where that came from, unless this gyms weights aren't as heavy as advertised. Was a piece of cake, I'm sure I could have almost gone with 75's.

Ya sometimes different sets of dumbbells feel lighter/heavier.

The ones at my regular gym are hard iron ones, when I go to a gym with the rubber-coated ones they feel at least 2.5lbs lighter each.

RRxtar 09-27-2010 04:38 PM

theres less gravity in ontario. fact.

I would usually wake up and slack around for a bit. But this morning I got out of bed and felt fresh. I think I'm liking this stuff already.

I also frequent a gym with hard iron ones as well. I always add 2lb for the bar + the actual weights (I weighed the bar on a scale). Just to keep my head from exploding when I can't finish a set at my normal weight :p

SkinnyPupp 09-27-2010 07:52 PM

Jacked up my wrist a bit.. It was fine last night, but this morning it is sore and 'clicky'. I guess it was from the decline barbell presses I did. Hope it recovers quickly! I guess it's just a bit inflamed.

sonick 09-27-2010 07:53 PM

Sliced into the tip of my left thumbnail while cooking today. Hopefully it doesn't affect my gym work.

DC5-S 09-27-2010 07:53 PM

my wrists is fucked for life.. was doing cheat BB curls a while back (3-4 months ago) and its never been the same again.. now I use the EZ bar and hold the bar at an angle with my hands and the pain doesnt come out..

hal0g0dv2 09-27-2010 09:01 PM

i got 3 diff protein mixtures,
i basically tried to mimic surge recovery, also made a cassein and milk protein 5 pound, then made a every day protein also
i got some beef aminos those are money in milk so fucking good cheap also, got some zma, sleep, multi vit, 2 fish oil , bcaa powder , leucine powde, i think i am set for a while

im a supp whore

SkinnyPupp 09-27-2010 09:04 PM

Yup sounds like solid stuff to me. I like supps too, but I try to keep it basic like that. I don't even buy ZMA, I just take a magnesium supp and zinc :lol

I have tried some of the 'out there' stuff, but it's all just overpriced and overhyped. The only whacky supplement I really like is the amiNO energy.

Hondaracer 09-27-2010 09:54 PM

RRxtar 09-27-2010 10:16 PM

anyone ever try taking a big tub of adams peanutbutter to home depot to get them to run it thru their paint shaker?

such a pain in the ass stirring it when its a new jar. peanut oil everywhere. fml

SkinnyPupp 09-27-2010 10:52 PM

Honda if you're eating low carb, high fat, your need for vitamin and mineral supplementation is probably lower than ever.

RRXtar try warming it up in water first

If you use creatine, try holding off on it for a while

!Yaminashi 09-28-2010 10:54 AM

Tried some dude's wrist straps while doing deadlifts yesterday and holy shit. I definitely need some

lol this was posted on another forum, found it amusing:

Communism is the small timer's system. That's a fact. It never works and the gym is a perfect allegory for why:

- No property rights: If it belongs to me, it's my problem. If it belongs to everybody, it's somebody else's problem. This is how you get morons breaking stuff left right and center. Breaking weights, busting treadmills, snapping cables, all acting like assholes, because it's communal property.

- No incentives: How often have you ever found a weight in the right goddamn spot? Never? Because people just throw it wherever, in the first empty spot they find. And that's if they even put shit back at all. You waste so much time trying to find the weight you need, and cleaning off the weight when somebody leaves it on the rack. Then there's the wasted time, you find a bench with weight on it, but nobody's around. So you're standing around, waiting to see if somebody claims it, all the while you could be gettin' swole.

- Inefficient resource allocation: So you're at the gym to do some squats. So you go to the one place you can do squats; the squat rack. In the very limited squat racks, there's some bro, doing his curls. So you can't use the rack for the very exercise it was named after, so some jackass can do an exercise that requires two feet of space in front of you. That's it. It could be done literally anywhere else in the gym, but this asshole has to use up the squat rack. Why? Because he gives no fucks. It's to each according to the "need", and bro "needs" to do curls on an olympic bar with two five pound weights on each side. Communism just lets everyone grab whatever they want, regardless of where it would work best.

All of these are specialized cases of the real reason communism busts out: a failure to compensate for selfishness. People want what's best for them, end of story and communism ignores that. Selfishness is why people hoard piles of weights for their entire routine, come back after ignoring a bench for 30 minutes and say "Hey I was using that" and refuse to let you work in.

Every stress at the gym comes from the fact that people are selfish and gym policies idealize human behaviour and refuse to be realistic.
