would adding assistance/accessory exercises into the basic template ruin the whole routine?

What rep scheme would I use on this program? Read the article and tried a google search too but can't find a concrete answer.

did you read the article? also check out damien petuzzi's training log on lift.net you can get a good idea of his rep scheme
so assuming you wanna hit a training 1rm of 405, your workout would probably be like this
225warmup, 315warmup, 365x1, 375x1, 385x1, 40x5x1 etc, backoff sets of 375-385 at 2-3 reps of 2-3 sets, maybe back off sets of lower weight like 315-335

Ionno, I personally never really liked doing singles for training until closer to comp.. Just feel like there's too much breakdown in form.. I only do them so I get used to the feel of heavy singles and not for strength gains

my rep schemes have always resided in the 10,8,5,4,3 and in rare cases 2

I ran through a sheiko 32 and it had me doing singles once a week and it was great because it was a comp prep program, but I found most of the strength gains came from the submaximal sets

just from what I experienced
