first day back at the gym today after what i might as well call a year off.... starting back up slow on the 5x5 program until i get used to lifting again. other than protein powder (just to supplement additional g's for now anyways) what else do you guys recommend as far as helping at this stage (not looking for creatine etc etc). vit D, calcium, or what ever else you guys think to help recovery/joint pain i see you guys talking about all sorts of other programs that i'll look into but as a "beginner/mid level" ie squating 225, DL 315 etc when i stopped, what other programs should i look into more closely. thanks guys. |
last week before deload week Max reps of 475 for squats tomorrow yikes Posted via RS Mobile |
take another vid ^^^ :D 5x5 is a great to back into it. I enjoyed gains on Layne Norton and 5-3-1 is quite popular. I've done some random 4 day splits and my body didn't respond. |
Blkgsr, I've heard positive things with glucosamine. I'm currently taking cod liver oil and it's been great for my joints. I've affirmed a high protein high carb diet lately, and sometimes I feel as though I'm not getting the fats I need to accompany the routinely grind that lifting places on my joints. The taste with cod liver oil is bearable, it basically tastes like nothing when you drink it down, unlike some of the omega 3 supplements out there. And don't ever take creatine if you wish to remain drug free. I mean, no you won't turn into phil heath right away, but you'll get a nice pair of raisins for balls. Posted via RS Mobile |
^ +1 for glucosamine chrondroitin, omega 3, and cod liver coil. Personally I take omega 3 Jamieson brand, and I also have a unopened bottle of cod liver oil, heard it's good for your eyes and immunity as well. Glucosamine is a bit more expensive than the omega 3, unless you have arthritis or if the pain is unbearable, then take the glucosamine. |
I find that creatine just makes me really chubby fast. But the strength gains are worth it. Posted via RS Mobile |

me and hotong did 405 for max reps today. he went beast mode and beat me at 9 reps conventional. he's a strong mfer going for 10 next training cycle!!!!! |
thats all synthol does. It's not anabolic or anything. It creates space in the muscle by stretching the fascia and allowing room for the muscles to grow themselves. Obviously the synthol freaks are not like this..... The pro BB uses synthol to allow the other stuff they are taking to work to maximum effect and allow for optimum muscle growth. Think about a hot water bottle as. say your bicep. Once it gets to a certain point its tough as hell to increase the size of it. Thats your fascia. Now use water to expand the bottle, instead of air and its easier to stretch it out. So the new muscle takes the place of the synthol which is absorbed into the body. It doesn't actually last very long in the muscle either so you need to inject it every day to get full benefit from it. Berz out. |
