You're probably under recovering (not eating enough) or your training is not hard enough to stimulate gains.

How much are u eating and what lifting program are you following?

not doing any diet specifically, just doing a 16/8 IF. i've gained strength in all other aspects of my work out except for my bench

try to find your maintenance calories using a calculator (CalorieKing - How Many Calories Should You Eat) and eat 500 above it.

Guarantee you'll make some strength gains

lol thats so inaccurate. I'm cutting with the amount it suggest me to gain weight with.

Agreed

But i suppose its for general guidelines, and consuming more/less from there

Looking for a cheap gym in burnaby vancouver area that has dumbbells going up to 150lbs. I wanna start dumbbell benching heavy again..

No such thing as heavy dumbbells and cheap gym.

Club16 = 90lbs. Anytime Fitness = 100lbs.

Best bet might be dropping in ($5/time) at Canada Games Pool in New Westminster. IIRC they have some really heavy dumbbells. (Also has 4 cages, and an Olympic lifting platform with tons of weight and bumper plates)

Weird I'm in the same boat. Same IF routine. My lifts are going up, I'm getting stronger, but my bench is still weak.

Are you doing the lean gains training, or just doing your own thing?

I haven't done biceps for 3 weeks and just for the hell of it decided a set after my normal compound routine. Lifted 45's like I'd normally do 35's..but bench is still weak lol

if your lifts aren't going up it boils down to two things that feed off each other

1. technique
2. frequency

if you're not practicing enough (frequency) you won't develop your technique. also hitting the main muscles involved in the lift with certain accessories will help. lats > (pulldown, chins/pullups), tricep > (cgbp, dips) etc

I stopped having sweet potatoes for lunch at skool. I switched to having chicken. I keep getting ppl telling me straight protein is bad for your heart and I need to have it with some fats or "carbs"... Any opinion?

hal0g0dv2 01-27-2014 11:37 AM

Why not have both?
And yes u just can't eat meat for every meal and nothing else

Not necessarily bad for your heart but all protein and no fibre... Your ass will not be happy with you. Did the same thing when I didn't know how to diet properly and ended up constipated

Recon604 01-27-2014 12:27 PM

I'm only having it for lunch. Cuz I don't get enough protein during the days I have school. I feel fine I just get stinky farts when I do fart. I am overcoming my potential tat I was stuck for a few months

The_Situation 01-27-2014 02:12 PM

Just having protein for lunch is fine... It's the same as taking a protein shake and not eating anything else, its not going to affect your heart. Your friends are broscientists.

According to my broscience friend eating a low carb diet will cause organ failure.

Sid Vicious 01-27-2014 02:35 PM

my advice to anyone is to never listen to anything anyone says about lifting/nutrition without some sort of scientific proof. and even with that proof...read the journal article lol

Berzerker 01-27-2014 05:04 PM

Failed 5 plate DL today. Then pulled 475lbs after the fail.
