How do you use leg drive and not lift your ass off the bench? i'm 6'2 but the bench @ steve nash are a little lower than normal ones so I find that I have a hard time keeping my ass on the bench when i'm pressing heavier weights. I've resorted to flat db press because the bench is higher :S

Push ur feet through the front of ur shoes, not into the ground. And don't bring ur feet so far back that only ur toes are on the ground. You can get a good arch that way but can't get as much leg drive. Posted via RS Mobile |

After struggling with my weight (20% BF) for years, I'm finally leafing through Starting Strength. The biomechanics sections are a bit dry, but the program is great--something a novice can understand, that works. I've been looking for a program like SS for ages.

Haha I wish. My bench is average at best. You and halo are bench gods!
On a related note, finally learned how to really use my lats when benching. It feels so different than anything I've done before. Pretty excited about the upcoming months.

Got a few noob questions on lifting equipment:
Opinions on knee sleeves? I don't currently have knee pains/problems but I am thinking of it more as a preventative measure. Worth the money or not?
Same with lifting belts. I've gone up to 2x bw squat and 2.5x bw deadlift without a belt but is it something I should look into getting?

Small update...
Haven't lost much weight in terms of pounds. BUT lost minimum 4 inches off my waist. Getting definition in my arms and legs. Lost a lot of body fat. Gained muscle in the right areas! I'm have always been very flexible for my size because I used to work in construction for a bunch of years, but I've gotten a lot more flexible now. I can now jiggle my pecs by flexing, lol. I laughed when I realized this.
Just gotta keep going to remove more of the flab off my stomach and chest area.
All around my goal of making healthier choices is going absolutely well. Not only is it helping me in terms of my body, it's also helping me in terms of my life. I realize I am making smarter choices now in terms of my inner self, my spirituality, the way I treat others, etc.
It's the best decision I have made for myself. Reading all your progress has helped me motivate myself to keep going as well. So thank you!

Same with lifting belts. I've gone up to 2x bw squat and 2.5x bw deadlift without a belt but is it something I should look into getting? | they are both definitely worth it imo. i got these ones and theyre sweet https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/sleev...e-sleeves.html
and a belt is always worth it, i mean the whole point of working out is to lift heavier weights so the belt will help you do that

Added front squats last month into my routine and I'm noticing the strength gains in my back squats and dead lifts as a result. Posted via RS Mobile |
