I'm doing the standard SL 5x5 program.

150lbs
5x5
Bench 135 :okay:
Squat 205
Dead 315

bench with high frequency that way you get the form down.

Pinched my sciatic nerve, and feeling pain upon lumbar flexion. Tingling aches along my butt, IT, and calves as well. Feels bad man; can't skwat or deadlift :okay: :okay:

hmm, i think you're supposed to run the cube method with a training max, however the main "competition lift" reps seemed too light

i think if ur 2nd movement is too light u can do two things

1) base your secondary movements off ur 1rm for those secondary movements (just kinda estimate if you dont know ur 1rm)

2) move your secondary movements around to another day so you're fresh. so like you can do the olympic squats on another day instead of your main squat day, block pulls etc

im a fan of the 2nd option let me know if you end up doing that

for example, m w f you can do the cube days, and then Thursday and Saturday you can do the secondary movement

Ease up on the weight and aim on higher reps, none of this 2-3 rep bullshit. You will look and feel a lot better, and your back/joints will thank you. What's the point of deadlifting 500 pounds when you look like shit all around ? Who you trying to impress ? Ronnie Coleman ? Look at him now.

okay thanks for your advice. will stop squatting and deadlifting now

Fcukedd 07-20-2015 11:08 AM

Thanks Sid, will start off with option 1 first. I prefer doing all my relative lifts on the same day (instead of squatting and benching on the same day) because I still focus on hypertrophy training after my main power lifts.

What I think I might do is switch a secondary movement between squat and deadlift day (competition squat + rack pulls; deadlift + olympic squat) and see how that works out.

A common misconception about powerlifting is that people think that all they do is go heavy with low volume, when in fact there's a lot of high reps involved and we hardly ever try for a 1RM unless it's for a competition / end of a long training cycle.

And pro powerlifters? You realize there are "pros" across an entire spectrum of weight classes right?

It's personal goals and something to strive for, yet because you don't even lift, I don't expect you to understand so I won't waste any more text on you.

Deadlift lighter, higher reps. You'll build your abdominals while you're at it too.

Let's see your body, then let's see how strong you really are at other diciplines other than your deadlifts.

Personal goals ? What are those goals going to mean when you can't walk ? Aesthetics are also part of bodybuilding. Who cares if you can deadlift 500 pounds. What is that going to do for you ? Let's see you do 20 weighted pullups and then i'll applaud you. Wide grip, all the way down and up to your chin.

And another thing. This is the internet. You can think that "i dont even lift" all you want. If you ever see me you'd quickly change your mind.

Anyway, just trying to give instantneedles some insight, and 10 years of European expertise and know-how.

I'm just kidding man.

That is a lot of weight, props to you. Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions. I can't tell you to stop doing what you love. It's nice setting personal bests etc. I just have a different insight on deadlifting, that's all.

I respect everybody who lifts, and gives it their best.

What is his height? He seems short judging from the video. Short people have the advantage. Impress nonetheless

Googled and he's 5'4. So impressive.

I care about how "jacked" or "ripped" I am, as much as you care how big your 1RM deadlift is.
Everybody has their own goals, mine being a competitive powerlifter.

Other disiplines? sure.

Here's me from 2 months back at ~158-160lb:

Spoiler!

deadlift: 475, squat: 455, bench: 300 touch-n-go (have vids if you don't believe me)

Nobody said you had to look like shit (relatively) to lift heavy weights (relatively again).
