Yeah i have the same issue. Im about to pick up some Power Blocks. A buddy of mine picked them up and their pretty solid weights that can be changed to be heavier or lighter. He previously bought the Bowflex Nautilus Weights and broke on him. Interchangable Bench + Weights @ home = Good to Go!

I think youd be surprized how strong that wood power rack can be. If everythings bolted together, not screwed, and you had decent structural cross bracing. Wood is incredibly strong under compression which is the force a properly designed rack sees. theres no twisting or bending applied. And Im not talking about budget grade lumber, framing structural lumber is still plenty cheap.

a Fir 2x6 is rated to 1350psi under compression. if you really want to look into it, read up onthe Wood Structural Design Data publication. or the simpler way would be to just ask if you've ever actually built something, or if you just hammer keys on a keyboard. Ive built a ton of shit over the years, and it would blow your mind how strong wood is.

The only things I would change from that one I posted a pic of would be by building longer 'feet' on it, and it would have two 2x4s tying it into the ceiling joists. And better 'hooks'

$150 to build a wood rack vs $800 to buy a steel one.

like i said, once you get over the "omg wood!!!" thought, and actually think about it, theres no reason why it wouldnt work for your basic home rack for the average guy. I bet youd be the only guy you know with any kind of a rack in their basement anyway.

Believe me, I know how strong wood is I was referring more to the design itself. It's probably fine, but on first glance it looked pretty sketchy

Anyway I had a solid workout. But some douche tried to "work in" with me on the power rack. I told him I'd be done in 10 mins, so he started pacing around the rack, looking really stern.

I was hoping not to have any gym stories to contribute here, but there you go. The good thing about hongers at the gym is that they pretty much mind to themselves. To me, that's a perfect gym member. I wouldn't ask anyone to leave the squat rack for me, so I would like it if EVERYONE did the same.

Hmmm for some reason I prefer to work out in a gym that has few people in it.
I think a part of me feels intimidated when I work out with too many ppl around me...
And like when ppl eye me while im doing an exercise makes me feel like im doing it wrong or something...

Squats+Jersday is now my favourite day of the week. =D

Fuck think I tore my calf today. I don't know what happened.
I did legs on monday and was sore for the rest of the week, but yesterday
I started to feel a sharp pain in my left calf which is the same calf I tore earlier this year.
It feels just like I tore it. I can't walk with the leg extended.

I havent done legs since monday. I think it could have been from the deadlifts I was doing on Thursday, but I didn't feel any pain during that time.

Picked up my hoist V5 today, thing is mint and came with the full leg press addition which is a $600 addition

So cheapest brand new I've seen the V5 is $2600 USD + 600 leg press

AND buddy tossed in a a set of the interchangeable dumbells just like the bowflex ones but he said these are a higher quality brand, go up to 55's

And all I gotta do in return is build him an 8x6 wall in his upper loft at his house

Holy crap! After dragging my sorry carcass to the gym, I went and had an AWESOME workout! On top of all that, I forgot my drinks. I chugged a Red Bull, and the caffeine hit just in time. I'll be paying for it tomorrow!

Start off super light bro. I went from 10lbs on each side to 35lbs each side in a month. Pretty nuts. Just kept adding weight every set.
