I have a family history of male pattern baldness -- It hasn't affected me yet but I've noticed slight thinning in some areas -- with finasteride/propecia it's better to get on it sooner rather than later.
Just wondering -- any of you guys taken it? How did it affect your strength / mood / sex drive / any noticeable side effects like Gyno?

I wouldn't consider it due to its boner killing side effects. Maybe if you're on TRT or B&C it would be ok, not sure
I noticed some receding hairlines for the past year, and pretty significant hair thinning as well. Started on some finasteride in January and hair got noticeably thicker within 4-6 weeks due to new hair growth (including areas where I was receding).
No loss in muscle bulk, no gyno, no strength changes (still benched 2 plates+25)... Bad boner effects though (but normally only effects <5% of people apparently - I was on the 5%). Anyway, stopped taking it, and hair has progressed back to where I was before I started on finasteride =(

Is it really only 5%? I don't know, but people make it seem like it's for pretty much everyone. Also apparently it can be permanent for some which is fucking terrifying
Did you take testosterone while taking finasteride [if you want to say]? If so I guess that doesn't counter the boner problems

I grabbed this info from a medical resource:

A systematic review of nine trials with a total of 3570 patients found an overall absolute increase in sexual dysfunction of 1.5 percent [3]. The risk for sexual side effects increases with age [8].
Sexual side effects related to finasteride usually resolve after discontinuation of the medication [9]. However, persistent sexual dysfunction after the discontinuation of finasteride was reported in a survey-based study of 71 men who associated their symptoms of sexual dysfunction with the use of finasteride for hair loss. The mean age of the study participants was 26 years and the mean duration of finasteride use was 28 months. Twenty percent of these men reported continued symptoms for greater than six years after cessation of the medication [10]. Moreover, a follow-up study of 54 of the interviewed men found that 9 to 16 months after the initial survey, 96 percent continued to report sexual side effects [11]. Additional studies are needed to validate these findings and evaluate the frequency with which persistent sexual dysfunction might occur.
Reductions in sperm count also may occur during treatment with finasteride [12,13]. This effect reverses after drug discontinuation.
Other rare side effects of finasteride include gynecomastia, testicular pain, and depression [14]. Side effects are more likely to occur with the typical 5 mg dose used to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy. Although finasteride is teratogenic, the finasteride concentration in semen does not pose a risk to women trying to conceive.

And no.. I'm not on any other supplements/drugs except for multivitamins and fish oil. I also think that taking testosterone is counter-intuitive to taking finasteride - they are ultimately doing opposite things in the body with no specificity to the scalp.
It wouldn't be counter-intuitive, as testosterone converts to DHT, and finasteride prevents that conversion.
What I am wondering is what causes finasteride to kill boners [and apparently it can do this permanently] and whether testosterone would counteract it.
I hear ya but then you're just patching up all these issues and taking more and more drugs just to hold on to some hair for a little bit longer [only as long as you keep taking the drugs]. IMO I'd rather be bald and have a working dick
Out of curiosity, what are everyones numbers for the big 3? I feel like my bench is lacking a lot. Currently getting back into it with strong lifts so don't exactly have a 1RM, or a 5RM even, but here goes:

deadlift: 595x1
bw: 200 lbs
i typically train moderate intensity high volume most of the year.

Anyone got recommendations on where I can find knee sleeves? Been looking into SPD and the knee sleeves from Mark bell. Anyone have any experience with either? Also where can I get the SPD ones from?
innerstrengthproducts.ca I believe are the only Canadian supplier of SBD. I use them and they're great, cant go wrong with them.
Haven't tried the mark bell STrong knee sleeves but from what I hear, they're similar to SBDs. the slingshot knee sleeves are comparable to rehbands.

I feel so unworthy...should not have asked that question
You'll get there in no time. I did SL 5x5 and got to my current lifts in about 8 months and just stayed pretty much the same for the next 4 months. I just started mad cow 3 weeks ago.
Guess the jump will take a little longer than I thought. I didn't warm up really, and jumped from my 225 set straight to 405. Impatient. Squeezed out 385 with some assist afterwards. More KFC, and more training...
