cuz I've just been doing DL, squats, BP all with barbell
and some dumb bells and the lat cable pull machine....

i personally think its a comfort thing.. IMO

depending on the exercise, but there's usually a substitute of machine workouts with db or bb and vice versa...

although i have never seen a dl machine before...

I like to use machines when I dont have a spot, or to just alter my workout slightly.
However machines dont do anything for your stabilizers imo (seated military press, incline bench etc)

Yea, to hang my towel and hold on to while I stretch

jk, I use the cables, lat pull down and seated cable row machines.

So usually I eat chicken breast and 2 pieces of whole wheat 2hrs before working out, today I had a Teen burger and felt like a BEAST in the gym, bigger lifts less fatigue lol

Machines are never necessary it really depends on what you're training for. I prefer free weights becaus that is where you get the most bang for your buck (time wise) with compound lifts. Free weights are good for practical strength, in the early 1900s that's all there was and those dinosaurs were strong as hell even though they weren't as big.

I would recommend a book called dinosaur training by Brooks kubik to you guys that are interested in training for strength. You can find it in pdf on the Interwebs

just got back from back workout, another unreal back workout

SkinnyPupp 10-21-2010 06:02 PM

Today I finish up my first 4 weeks of loading. Gained about 9 lbs net (fat went down). On Monday I do a week of deloading (lower weight, high reps) then another 4 weeks of loading. Mondays will be "super heavy" days where I am lifting my 2-3 rep max for 15 total.

Looking forward to Hack Squats! I tried some the other day and they were awesome.

Puck Luck 10-21-2010 06:12 PM

i've been working out a number of years now. when ever i do squats, my left knee is sore for a few days. Not so much in the joint, but more like on the knee cap area. sore to the touch.
Anyone else have problems with squats/knee issues? any solutions?

trancehead 10-21-2010 06:24 PM

Back and Biceps today was awesome.

I should check my weight. Its been about a month!

nns 10-21-2010 09:11 PM

I never understood why people do lat pulldowns. Why not just do pull-ups?

RRxtar 10-21-2010 09:14 PM

back bis shoulders and abs. i just sorta do whatever whenever lately..

on a positive note, shoulder pain is nearly GONE! elbow and knee are feeling good too! wrists abit sore but thats mostly from abuse at work. fingers crossed that some of the 17 pills a day im taking are helping! weather is supposed to turn ugly again tomorrow so if the inflammation stays away ill pencil it an early success

SkinnyPupp 10-21-2010 11:20 PM

Great workout today, pushed all my maximums by 5-10 lbs.

Red Bull really is a good pre-workout drink imo

I saw a guy using the squat rack for curls and magazine reading...

Its just you. The squat rack is meant for bicep curls and shrugs.

what I meant is that the only machine i use is the cable lat.
the rest are all free weights.
but thats good to know that i don't NEED to be using machines.

SkinnyPupp 10-22-2010 01:13 AM

BTW if you guys want to hit new rep max for curls (yes curls), circuit them with squats. Try it!

I do both. I can concentrate on hitting the mucle I want to hit doing pulldowns better. or change angles to hit things slightly different.

one of my favorite exercises is a wide neutral grip pull down with my back at like 45-60* hammers my upper middle back so well

Pull ups are definitely WAY better overall tho.

keepz1 10-22-2010 10:20 AM

havent gone to the gym in a week..had a family wedding that lasted 3 days then i got sick and now im just being lazy

i need a partner anyone work out at sports central

halo you got any inspirational videos for me bro lol

!Yaminashi 10-22-2010 12:23 PM

Lat pull downs are a waste of time, wide grip pull ups + barbell rows are win
